Dremel Speed Problem

Post by PyGuy » Thu Aug 20, 2009 10:01 pm

This is strange...I read the Dremel manuals very carefully (since I am new to dremel cutting) and I especially made sure NOT to lean on or force the dremel to cut the plastic.

For some reason my Dremel MultiPro Rotary (Corded) does not spin anymore unless it is at the full speed setting, in which case it is rapid.

Is there a way to fix this? Thanks in advance

You cold wire up a light dimmer to plug it into, which would reduce the speed when adjusted.

It sounds like you ripped the rubber sleeve that couples the motor to the shaft on the drill. It usually happens if you try to cut through something thick at a really high speed.

It happened to my dremel when one of my friends borrowed it and managed to break it. You could open yours up to see if that is the case. I'd say try to find a place that sells a replacement sleeve or try to make one yourself.
