game boy peppermint

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

game boy peppermint

Would it be possible to fit the (already portable) Game Boy Color into a (more portable) Altoids tin (GBASP-style)?

If so, how would I get the darn thing open with those screws that have Y-shaped slots?

1. Maybe, with a LOT of work. However, as far as I can tell the parts and batteries still wouldn't fit in the Altiods tin very easily.

2. See our companion reference site: http://portablesofdoom.org/screws.php

For the 3-wings you can either buy a tri-wing screwdriver or just try a set of clock screwdrivers. I've opened up many units with a slightly filed off clock screwdriver.

Not really, unless you were some kind of soldering prodigy and had an insane amount of luck! :D

Now perhaps if you wanted to use two hinged Altoids tins, or make a custom controller hub and have the Altoids tin house the LCD and attach a small hinge; that's VERY doable. Good luck!

Maybe not a GBC, but I'm betting a Micro would fit. Of course, I've never seen the guts of a Micro, so I could be wrong.

Why didn't they just go with oneboard for the micro? I can see no reason for it...

No reason aside from.... housing it in an altoids tin! Brilliant! They knew we were coming! Screen in the top, other stuff in the bottom...

Whats the point of making a micro bigger though?

There's no challenge!

You should put a GB Pocket into something weird, like a football (that can still function as one) or a TV remote.

No, put it in a broken TI calculator. Then sell it to someone who wants to play GBC in math class (or keep it for yourself :P). I was planning on doing this but I'm broke so I can't buy the broken calculator.

i tried the gameboy in a calc - hard enough using an sp!

its the most viable option for this mod though - its screen fits just right and the control boards line up pretty well. Plus it just fits inside.

I was close, but then just sold the whole thing on ebay for $150

yes i made some money on an idiot. but he gave me good feedback and he was happy, and i was definetely happy 8)

shift key broken 2day...my laptop STINKS 9capslock works though0

ps; the 9 and 0 are parentheseses 9can't spell0
