Up for sale is a portable Super Nintendo built by me, Brian Henderson. I am a moderator here on the benheck.com forums and have been building portables for some time now and I consider this to be one of my best projects yet.
Even Ben Heckendorn thinks it's great! This picture was taken earlier this year at the Midwest Gaming Classic:
Yes, that is indeed a joystick you see instead of a D-pad. It registers 4 directions just like a normal D-pad but is far more comfortable on your thumb!
System features:
*Large 5" LCD screen with LED backlight for low power consumption
*Lithium polymer (LiPo) batteries that last over five hours per charge - not bad at all for a 5" LCD screen and a system never designed to be run off of batteries!
*AV out and headphone jack
*Second player jack for twice the fun!
Perhaps most importantly, this system comes with a 6 month warranty against any malfunctions of the system NOT caused by the owner. Also, although the batteries will last for several years I am offering a free battery replacement service should the need ever arise.
YouTube video of the portable being built and initial testing!
This portable has worked flawlessly since I finished it ten months ago. You can see in my video that even if the cartridge is smacked while playing it does not glitch at all. Snug!
I am asking $450 for this system, which includes the charger, six month warranty and battery replacement service as previously mentioned. Anyone who is interested please contact me either by PM on this site or email me at portablizer@gmail.com
Thank you!

Two questions: Are the batteries easy to recharge? Is there any reason you did not have the game hidden behind the device?

I do not know what type of charger he uses, but it should come with the system.GreenSmurf wrote:Two questions: Are the batteries easy to recharge? Is there any reason you did not have the game hidden behind the device?
And, if he would've made it go down the back, it would've been much thicker, and less awesome.

Just dropping by to give you some final praises on this project. It's one of my favorite portables I've seen (and played), and whoever owns it next will love it.
$450 is a steal for such great work.

The batteries are very easy to recharge - included with this system is a smart charger that fully charges the batteries in just a couple of hours.GreenSmurf wrote:Two questions: Are the batteries easy to recharge? Is there any reason you did not have the game hidden behind the device?
If you want to know why the cartridge comes out the top, see the linked YouTube video - there simply isn't room inside the system with the internal batteries in there. The shape of the back of the enclosure box I used for the case prevented any easy way to make the cartridge slide down the back without adding another two inches to the thickness of the case, which for a portable is NOT good. Trust me, when you are actually playing a game you do not even notice the cartridge coming out the top. It's a solid system, and feels great in one's hands.

By the way, I did watch the youtube video at work but I had it muted and it was still pretty awesome! I am going to have to wait until I get my paycheck and check my bank account but I might be willing to barter for it. $450 is more that I wanted to spend but it is pretty sleek looking.
Thought of two more questions: Can I easily shave the top slot to fit Super Famicom Games? Are you willing to come down to $370?

^PM sent, check your inbox.
It plays SFC games as it is except the cartridge slot is a bit tight. A few minutes with an exacto knife and a file would make it work without any issues.
