Here are a few to start off with.
What is a system that you loved playing?
Do you own or can obtain that system and some games?
Do you know the basics to soldering? If not go to portablesofdoom.org (the soldering guide)
Are you willing to go through the trial and error method of solving a problem on your portable project?
Can you search these forums for the help you need without asking a question that (potenally) has been asked before?
If you can say yes to a lot of these then you have an outline of where to begin your project. Portables are much like computers, they're not as complex as people think.
I hope this helps.
P.S. We frown on anything besides basic and clear english here. We take a joke in 1337 speak, and can translate for someone who either doesn't know english or isn't good. But please don't get carried away, talk here like you would to anyone imperson.
P.P.S. Remember keep it PG.

Consider this:
-Budget. How much are you willing to spend on a portable? After parts and equipment you're looking at spending $60 easily. And usually that's just for the system and the screen.
-System. What system did you like to play? NES? SNES? Atari 2600?
-Parts. There is no practical way to use a game boy, game boy advance, DS, or Game Gear screen. Go for a Hip Gear screen or a console screen.
What you want to do is think about the project, and read about how to build it here, at www.portablesofdoom.org and in the Book. And read the rules sticky in Forum 42, and all the reference stickies in the forums that are important to you. (SNES for a SNESp, Sega for a Radica...) There's lots of good stuff in there.
Here, we try to use proper English grammar and spelling, so please turn your caps lock off, and check your spelling before you post. (It helps keep things readable and keeps the forum from looking like a 12-year-old AOLer site.)

OK? Ok.
So basically, do your research, search, then ask questions. Check your writing, and you'll go far here.
