Fat Green Capacitor Replacement

Post by jeffslot » Wed Jul 27, 2005 4:40 am

Hello,

I broke another fat green capacitor. Is there something at radio shack that can serve as a replacement? I thought I read about it once on these boards, but I couldn't find it through search. Thanks.

The fat green capacitor that I need to replace is for my 2600 project from the book. It is supposed to connect to the paddle. Any ideas? Thanks.

Also, I've got a spare light sixer I could take one out of I guess. Do you know would the light sixer have any of those?

Here's what you need (from here)
Do what spoungebuell says.
SpongeBuell wrote:unfortunately, Radio Shack does not have any .068uF caps anymore, but you can still improvise. Use one of these: http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?c ... 272%2D1068 and one of these: http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?c ... 272%2D1066

Wire them in parallel (not series) keeping the long and short wires together. When you wire it to the board, make sure the short wire is the one that is connected to the ground.

vb_master,

Sorry for the crude drawing, but would that look similar to this?

*0*,

Very funny. Yup that's the one. Actually I didn't mistake it for a chicklet, but the little legs keep breaking off. I think they are getting weakened by the desoldering from the old atari board.

Okay,

I ran to "The Shack" today & got my two replacement capacitors. Now, before I install them, I just want to make sure I have the right idea (I hate to use the word, but I'm a word that rhymes with hoob).Just take 1 .047uF & 1 .022uF and just hold their leads together & solder them together to the appriopriate spot on my paddle controller? Kind of like pretending it's only 1 bigger capacitor? Thanks
