xbox 360 headset

Post by killahbees » Thu Jul 10, 2008 9:56 pm

Hi, I have a small question. I was wondering if it was possible to mod the xbox 360 headset to make it work on a PC as a headset. I would try myself but I have no skills at modding stuff and would only ruin it. It doesnt seem like it would be too hard to find out, so if anyones willing to try or knows the answer it would be really helpful.

Thanks

This is quick and easy if you want to use the standard connector (not usb) just unscrew the back and pull apart the plastic shield. then cover the guts with electrical tape and you will have the fully acessable aux connector!

I typed 2.5mm into google and clicked images, the 7th picture (the first one in the second row) led me to a blog.makezine article that linked here:

Complete description of how to do the hack:

I typed 2.5mm Mobile Headset To Pc Converter into google and clicked products:

Google is your friend, spend some quality time with him(her?).

Good luck, I find that the headset is very poor quality, but YMMV, and this is a great hack/product for many 2.5mm headsets/earpieces out there.

The commercial products should fit the X360 headset fine, but you can always trim the rubber back with a sharp knife until it fits without modifying the headset (Carfully! Cut away from yourself. Best to put it on a flat surface and cut toward the surface.)

As a matter of fact, if its a wireless headset, just buy the 360 wireless reciever for windows. If its a wired headset and you have a wired controller handy, if you plug that in and then plug the headset in, windows will install it as a new speaker and mic.
