Powering Up the System

Post by PK-421 » Mon Aug 28, 2006 1:00 pm

I have everything hooked up on my portable NES but when I insert the battery pack it gets very hot very quickly. it melted some of the solder of the positive and negative wires on the phono jack. Any idea what to check?

Either there's a short somewhere, or you have reverse polarity (+ and - mixed up). Those are the first two things that come to mind.
I'd imagine right now you wish you were a cuttlefish...

I took apart my NES mobile and found that I had mistakenly soldered the ground and Unregulated power pins on the 7805 regulator together. Thanks.
