Maybe if you sold 5,000 and were trying to pass it off as official Nintendo hardware. Otherwise, nah.

Links updated as requested. If you notice any other portables that really need to be added to the lists, even if they aren't yours, don't hesitate to post the link here and I'll take care of it. Thank you!

Re: SNES portable number three!
This is all I've got . Study the pics closely and you can figure out how I made it. Nothing too complicated, just... time consuming. It was inspired by this portable . I usually post a pretty detailed build log on most of my projects - it just takes a bit of digging to find the older posts but they...

Re: Absolute Noob here, Never even touched a soldering iron b4
EDIT: I just bought Ben's book so i think I'll be busy this week reading up on the 500+ pages of hacking goodness :D Thanks for the tip on the book ! I started out by reading Ben's book. The beginning sections on just electronics and soldering are almost enough information to be a book all by itself.

Tutorial for reading data sheets (SparkFun)
This is an awesome tutorial for reading datasheets just recently posted by SparkFun: http://www.sparkfun.com/tutorials/223" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I highly recommend that everyone read it and learn how to comb through electronic suppliers websites like DigiKey and Mouser to fi...

Re: Painting case?
1. Masking tape. Lots of it. 2. 6-8 inches, I think? It says on the can. Make sure you do multiple light coats. And remember - light means LIGHT! Don't overdo it on any one coat. It takes more time, but your end result will be better if you just spray a light mist several times rather than getting h...

Re: Would 12V input to the 7805 damage the regulator/system?
Not if you're using the original 7805 with heatsink that the system came with. I believe a 7805 regulator can take up to 30-ish volts without a problem. The higher voltage you put in = more heat, so make sure you have that heatsink still.

Re: Hackmodford's Dreamcast Portable Comission
This is my favorite site for calculating what resistor I need: http://ledcalc.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It's easy, simple, and to the point. Like hailrazer said, wire all the LEDs in parallel but place a resistor on each one. Typical values are around 10 to 30 ohms. On both...

Re: Retro recasing
I love that Pocket Hi-Fi picture! I kinda really want to make one now... And of course it would only have a 1/4" headphone jack, because anything smaller is for pansies! This guy has a mighty fine eye for design! http://behance.vo.llnwd.net/profiles2/118838/projects/545221/75fe7026b1cf4c94a13ede515d...
