Re: n64 portable question topic
thank you for all your help. as it turns out, i don't think the audio is fixable. i cut a small section from an old n64 board, same rev, and wired it through that, and still nothing. so i guess something else was damaged. how safe is it to try my other idea, the one where i'm thinking about bridging...

Re: Aqua 64 - An Nintendo 64 Portable
Oh, what I meant with the resistor and capacitor: Yes, you will be stepping down your 12v (I believe you have two lipos, making 7.4v) down to 3.3v, to do this, you need a resistor, capacitor, and a small chip- pth08000waz. The chip you can get from texas instruments for free, which is why I didn't i...

What Kind of Soldering Iron do you guys use?
Brand? Wattage?
I have a pretty cheap one and the tips burn pretty easily, I want to know what you guys like to use, and hey, maybe one of you has an extra one that you're willing to part with.
But anyway, any suggestions?

Re: Aqua 64 - An Nintendo 64 Portable
some of these are approximations screen - $25 batteries -$30 case - $25 n64 - $15 controller - $10 heatsinks - $10 resistor and capacitor for 3.3v - $2 "some putty" - $10 and if you have extra parts lying around, you can usually scavenge for the capacitor, or the heatsinks, or whatever. and you prob...

Re: n64 portable question topic
i'm not exactly sure how this works. sorry for my ignorance. i messed up the resistor right before the pin for audio right where the cord usually plugs into the back of the n64. is that resistor not important?
thanks a bunch

Re: n64 portable question topic
For paint, krylon fusion is a good way to go. This is what I was talking about in my question. For some reason, the right audio is not working. Here is a diagram of the cart slot that I made in like 40 seconds. http://i55.tinypic.com/2qi0dvt.jpg Is it safe to bridge these two pins, feeding the signa...

Re: n64 portable question topic
this is true, but it's going into a portable anyway, the speakers will be somewhat close together. and if there is another option, i would do that. but if no one has another option for me, it would be safe to bridge right and left audio pins at cartridge slot, so it would be sort of like setting the...

Re: n64 portable question topic
Awesome, thanks for the info.
Another question:
I think I burned out the resistor where I connected right audio, because it's not playing. potential fixes for this? Is there an alternate place to wire to, or could I bridge the left and right audio pins at the cartridge slot?
Thanks

by "xbox laptop", do you mean that all you're doing is attaching a screen, nothing else?

Re: users lock their own topics
The reason we WONT be allowing users to lock their own threads elsewhere is what bic said "someone said something I disagree with in my thread, I'm taking my ball and going home" kind of behavior is too common and people like to get the last word in, so giving them the power to say something then p...

Re: n64 portable question topic
i would be using it for the psone screen and nothing else. also, i am fully aware of the regulators that use potentiometers and don't burn off energy as heat, but 9v to 8v isn't that much of a step anyway and i guess i'm just trying to figure out more about 7808 in particular, and how good of an opt...
