He moved to Altium because Eagle couldn't handle the design.

Re: Feasibility question - digital camera with large lcd display
It's pretty feasible, I think, if you have the skills. Someone would have to "sniff" around on the connections to the stock LCD and see how it works, wire up to them (which may be a pain), and with a good FPGA drive a larger LCD and do some upconversion magic. Not myself, of course, but I'm sure som...

Re: (ZCP) Slimmed DD for space and to remove the bulk?
For future reference, keep all of your questions in one topic. It makes things easier to answer and keeps the forum from getting clogged up. But for your question, yes you can. You can slim the drive down by cutting down most of the base plastic, IIRC. There's a guide on this around somewhere. You c...

Re: Would this work?
The first one will boost the voltage successfully just won't provide enough current to run a screen.
The second one should work but you are going to need to ask someone more knowledgeable than me about electronics for the resistor/capacitor/inductor values.

Re: Possible to Create Own Personal Portable Device
So you want to make a cell phone? I hope you have an EE degree.
Honestly, the best thing to do is to make an app. You can have server authentication for monster creation (so hacking is limited), battles from anywhere, and most already have GPS capabilities. Way cheaper, too.

Sorry, the first one will not work, now that I think about it.
As for wiring it up, look in the datasheet for the regulator.

Re: FPGA Dev boards
Turns out I might not have as good of access to my college funds as I thought. I will see what I can do, but I might not be picking one up for a while. The DE2 looks nice, but I've also been eyeing the Nexys2 board. A bit cheaper, and has been used at my college in a few courses in the past (accordi...

Re: Possible to Create Own Personal Portable Device
Depends a lot on your skills. (Anything is possible!) Are you thinking like a Tamagotchi, with a monochrome display and simplistic functions? You may be able to make something like that cheaply. (cheap being relative) But why go through all the trouble to make a single function device like that? Mak...

Re: Would this work?
Probably would work.
Check on the motherboard of the screen for voltage regulators to be sure that you have to run it at 12V. Have you tested even just putting 7.5v in at the input point?

Re: Would this work?
Maybe, but you won't get much current from it. (300ma)
What are you using that requires 12V? Many things can run on less.

Re: Book Scarcity, maybe we can build community through this
The book is outdated and incorrect. Some of the diagrams in the book are wrong, and some better techniques have been developed. If you look around on the forums, you'll find plenty of information on "portablizing," etc. The community around the book really has died; these forums aren't really active...

You know, you can just upload the file to the Public folder in your dropbox and share the link for that. Then you wouldn't have to give us your password.

FPGA Dev boards
Hey guys, I've been looking into getting a FPGA development/evaluation board to mess around with and probably use in college. I should be able to get student/academic pricing because I have a college email address already, which is sweet. I was looking into getting an Altera DE2 board for $269, but ...

Yes, each pixel is RGB but it will not accept RGB without a controller board. These are original Sharp color TFT-LCDs designed to be used in the PlayStation Portable. 4.3" of beautiful 24-bit color with powerful LED backlight. 480x272 pixels - each pixel has RGB control. Data interface is 24-bit so ...

I got banned too, and my IP definitely hasn't changed. :/
My best guess is that someone hacked in to the ACP and banned all IP's. (Maybe the login skimmer?)
