Re: Started collecting bits for a PS2 Slim project
Ok, the HD Connect works perfectly (drives are detected, ToxicOS prompts to format and lets me explore the drive) - however I cannot find anywhere on the PS2 slim motherboard with enough power to actually run any of the laptop drives I've got (probably ~10 or so, from all the way back to a 80mb driv...

I like it! Good idea - it fits, and it doesn't look out of place either.

Re: Started collecting bits for a PS2 Slim project
Replacement laser arrived and resolved the spin up issue (original games playing fine again). However I still could not get it to recognise the update disc with the flash code for the modchip; neither my stock of DVD-R or CDRW discs would work, I eventually managed to track down a couple of unused C...

Re: I need some help with this game.
It needs to run on a PC (specifically, a PC running Windows)... it's just been written to look like a retro portable game.

Re: Ebay Advice
I get a bit pissed if I buy something from Ebay that maybe has a £5 postage fee and it comes in just a standard envelope and with £1 worth of stamps, I might leave a neutral feedback but I certainly wouldn't try to claim money back. I understand as a buyer that the cost listed for postage is not jus...

Re: Minimig laptop - Portable Amiga console
Yep, Minimig. You can build one yourself if you can solder smd stuff - all the circuit layouts and flash code is freely available.
Normal price for a pre-built and tested setup is around £130, about $200.

Re: Terminator 4
Seriously, you guys *like* T3? It has to go down as one of the worst sequels in history... 'funny' lines from a Terminator??? Arnie is clearly not one of the best actors ever, but at least his role as Terminator in the first two films had 'presence'... he just looked old in the third. Compared to th...

Re: Laptop Case?
btw, the DC supports both keyboards and mice. but it's via a weird 'maple' bus, not usb or ps2. you'll have to hack a dc keyboard and mouse (eek!) to work in the laptop case.

Re: Cutting the PSOne Screen?
Yep, the top section is the transformer for the backlight, it can be de-soldered or cut off completely if you LED mod the screen.
Even if you decide not to cut the PCB down, you're best off de-soldering it anyway to reduce power draw.

It's an LVDS interface, which is a digital video standard found on most laptop motherboards. Unless you can build a composite/svideo/rgb to LVDS bridge I wouldn't bother.

Re: Started collecting bits for a PS2 Slim project
Well, I just can't figure it out. I'm fairly certain now after going back over all of the wires (with a magnifying glass and also checking resistance) that I've no more mistakes; the system powers on, chip is detected and working and the drive will start to spin with a cd/dvd in place, but it won't ...
