Re: Looking for Information on Laptop Screen Connection.
Dang, they finally got cheap. Last I'd looked into them, they were still over a hundred. I see they're still only compatible with certain types, though.

For the third time, NO.
Laptops will not work like that. It is a special connection. Forget it entirely. It will not work.

Re: Looking for Information on Laptop Screen Connection.
Now just speculating laptops with different connection types but same monitor sizes will still typically fit or? Not by a long shot. I've got a pair of Thinkpads, very similar. The screens are the exact same size, the bottoms are even in the same type of casing. But you open them up, and the screen...

Re: Looking for Information on Laptop Screen Connection.
Laptop screens tend to be pretty specific to the laptop. I doubt very much that you're going to find one that will just require a bit of rewiring. There are converter kits available that let you use a laptop LCD with some other input, but I've got no idea how much they cost or how well they work. It...

Re: Yet another FS/T thread.
Bump. Big add today. I have an Asus desktop case with power supply, front ports, and mobo. No RAM, no drives. The motherboard is an Asus M2A-VM with DVI and VGA video ports right on the board. The processor is an AMD Athalon 64 X2 ADO5200. There's an expansion video out that has HDMI, S-Video, compo...

Re: Tool questions.
I've got the General Tools brand dial caliper. I paid $35 for mine in a store, and I love it. I've also got a few of their regular stainless steel ones, which are also very nice. Great construction, and easy to read.

Re: NDS Lite Problem, PLEASE HELP
Make sure all the ribbon cables are properly connected. If you've changed the bottom screen, and the back is bare metal, cover it with electrical tape to insulate it from the board. If that's not the case, it might be one of the fuses. Khaaq made a nice tutorial for that. If you have a multimeter or...

Re: Custom Cart for N64, NES, SNES, etc
JJHammerstein experimented with it. His thread on Mod Retro He made a reduced cart slot by dremeling down an original. Palmertech talked about doing it, but I can't find the thread to see how far he went with it.

Re: Well, I'm pretty much a nerd, and....
I had a RetroN1. It's fully compatible with the regular NES controllers. I tried the included ones, and they were absolute crap. There are three small boards inside. One has the controller ports and power/reset, one has the cartridge slot and main brains, and one has power input and video out. I had...

Re: GBA Lego case?
As long as you've got all the screws out of it, the case just comes apart very easily. The screen might have a bit of adhesive holding it in place, but it should pull apart with little effort.

Re: GBA Lego case?
As long as you don't damage anything taking it apart and putting it in the new case, it'll work just fine.

Re: The Afternoon projects thread.
@thewizdawg- Dang. So much more effective than my approach. I cleared all the chips off some game, then used a converter pinout to wire the pirate mobo to the NES one. Took forever to do.
