Re: Audio Mixing
Usig resistors will really only degrade the quality if they block the current so much that you have to amplify the signal a lot. That way you also amplify the noise floor which is always present. With something as noisy as the TIA, using resistors for mixing will be the least of your problems. Value...

Wordfilters for definitely...
As some of you may know I strongly oppose wordfilters for curse words as I find them silly and because they don't solve the problem. But that's not what this thread is about... Why not add a wordfilter that is actually useful? Filter these... definitely, definatly, definantly, definetly, definently....
Re: Usb Drive Question
Huhum! Why isn't this thread in the computer tech forum? Anyway, here's how to do it. Information about all drives that have ever been connected to the computer is available in this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USBSTOR (Start run > regedit) However, this tells you n...

Re: what might cause this power supply to "flicker"
What about the cap lying down, does it look ok? Also, I found it hard to believe that those black things would be fuses. More likely they're coils. What does it say on them? And there seems to be place for two more caps and one more diode. Check on the bottom of the board if it seems like these comp...

Re: Directing Headphone Signal
Just because a signal oscillates does not mean it goes below the reference voltage. For your standard audio signal it stays above 0V. It is exactly this that I disagree with. On every sound output I've come across, there has been a coupling capacitor in series with the signal to remove any DC offse...

Re: Directing Headphone Signal
Am I missing something here? A diode will only let current travel in one direction, but that says nothing about whether a given signal can go in either direction - that depends on the signal. Rekarp, you should know better. To do this you need either a four pole switch (or two DPDT switches) or an ...

Re: Can you safely relocate inductors?
There are several problems with relocating them. Inductors when used in modern electronics are usually part of a switching power converter. This means there are several problems you need to account for: 1) Interference. Since a high current and sa (relatively) high frequency is passed through the co...

Re: how reliable are wires on an ethernet cable?
When relocating a cartridge slot, use ribbon cable, no exceptions. That way the cables are held together which is good both for mechanical stability and for getting the wires in the right order and right length. And as pointed out, ethernet cables are rigid and tend to want to bend into the shape it...
