Ceiling Projection
Okay, so I had an idea that I think would be amazing...ly difficult. I want to turn my ceiling in to a second monitor for my PC. I have 1 foot of height I can sacrifice, and my room is about 10 feet squared. My current idea is to mount a projector on to my existing ceiling, create some light scaffol...

You're going to look like a fag with that when you're 70.

I assumed a mini. I'm not sure about the duo.

Re: Reducing bmp size.
A friend of mine explained bitmap compression to me. Reducing the image size did it, the DEA one came out on top for looking the most official.

Re: whats a good battery?
Probably not, it sounds like it might be the snes. Try drawing the audio directly from the chip: The SNES audio IC is a little 8-pin chip near the capacitors. There's a picture or two somewhere, but I can't find it for the life of me. Trace the lines backwards from the A/V adapter and you'll find it...

Re: PSOne Screen - EL backlight instead of LED Mod?
You can get free samples from 3M for some crazy backlighting material. It can evenly distribute the light, and reflect wrongly polarized light to be recycled, while letting correctly polarized light through the screen. It's not 100%, but it'd sure help.

Re: PSOne Screen - EL backlight instead of LED Mod?
Just throwing this out there:
My laptop screen is relatively dim compared to other makes. It has a brightness of 200 cd/m^2. This is probably the equivalent of an 6-8 led mod or so.
That EL strip has a brightness of 120 cd/m^2. That's pretty dim. If you can layer them, that'd be great.

I'm working with two possibilities, whichever turns out better. The goal is to add some hilarity to a stolen laptop.

Reducing bmp size.
I am re-flashing my bios. It has the capability to display a custom image instead of diagnostics. The catch is that it has to be a 16 colour, 640 x 480 bitmap that is under 10kb. I can't get it under 140kb. I downloaded some software to reduce the size, and it doubled the size. I honestly don't feel...

Snow: It would work perfectly. I've done it, the problem being that you can't just let any old idiot use it for fear they'll hook up their headphones and get a nasty 7 volt suprise.

Buy a good desoldering iron and some flux.

When resoldering the slot, keep your wires under 3 inches or you'll copulate things up.

Re: Portable-Palooza 2009 - Voting Was Influenced
Everyone old here knows how the old members feel about Bacteria. Bacteria: We wouldn't need anyone to blame if you guys didn't think it'd be funny to steal from someone. Because that's essentially what this is about. A contest without prizes, that'd be funny, if a little immature. But skewing voting...
