Re: Question about resetting MacBook
As I mentioned before, google it yourself and check out MacBook and MacBook Pro Black screen of death. They have a bad history of their GPU developing cold solder joints. This does go back furthr than the MacBook line. You can find a fuy who fixes his iBool (I think that's what it is) with a metal t...

Re: Video card problem
My guess is that when you cleaned all the filters the fan got bumped and that's why it's not going. Pulling it out and putting it back in will likely fix it. As for why it's spinning so fast and not going, I'm guessing it's temp sensor was either giving incorrect data or getting incorrect data and y...

Re: Question about resetting MacBook
I would think twice before getting anything labeled Mac. Macbooks are notorious for the "black screen of death" and unless you want to occasionally strip down your Macbook and blast it with a heat gun on the 50/50 chance that it will either kill it or fix it, you might want to consider something els...

Re: Biohazzrd's Xbox Portable
If your HDD is unlocked, then you can simply connect it to your PC and it should find itself ok... the only real question is whether or not xboxhdm will be able to see the SATA drive, but presuming that it can you should be able to re-lock it either by manually typing in the lock code, or by using t...

Re: Xbox 360 laptop cooling ideas.....
if you aren't too far along, I'd recommend getting one of the new xboxs with the same-die GPU/CPU. All your cooling in one location. I agree with the liquid cooling idea. as far as intake/outtake, figure out which fans are going to have the higher static preassure and airflow. Use these as your outf...

Source for wired 360 controllers
I've been toying with the idea of making a wired 360 controller fit into a PS3 shell, or possibly a PS2 shell (haven't decided yet). In order to do this, I need to follow the instructions etc that are laid out in a few posts online in these forums. I'm fine with that, but my concern is that I dont w...

Re: slim xbox 360 portible
Remember mooks, the 360 was never intended to be made into a portable, just really really small. It would be like trying to take a desktop PC and turn it into a laptop. While technically possible, it would require a lot of work and money just to get it to the point where it could last an hour. These...

Re: Xbox ram upgrade
This isn't exactly the easiest upgrade in the world to do. It requires steady hands and a healthy supply of flux. I recommend watching some youtube vids on how to complete it as there are (i believe) 4 slots that need to be filled... and yeah, the xbox itself will not use the extra ram, only emus an...

Re: The best way to fixe a 3 RRDOD?
There are a few ways to fix it "permanently" 1. replace with new 360 via exchange program. 2. replace with new system altogether... ok so here is the "other" way to fix it. Reball the GPU, replace the case with a larger case, or keep the same case but replace the heatsink for the GPU with a water co...

Re: The best way to fixe a 3 RRDOD?
up to you, I would look into tightening down all of your heatsinks with new thermal paste after a reflow of the ram/gpu on both sides with 1/2 an hour inbetween flipping it over (at least). Then I would look at getting a new console, because if that didn't fix it, likely not much will. If they only ...

Re: The best way to fixe a 3 RRDOD?
The prices for a reball are approx $100 USD. This is pretty close to the cost of a new 360 altogether. Since this is potentially going to raise the price of your 360 laptop considerably, I would sit and think hard on it. They also do not provide 100% assurance that your unit will be returned in work...

Re: The best way to fixe a 3 RRDOD?
before you jump the gun and go straight to a reflow, I would be interested to know what the error code is. I cannot remember how to get the primary and secondary error code but google it and it will tell you what the issue is. If it's GPU failure/overheat then we know that there is a problem with th...
