Re: AV from psone screen to n64
On the back of the screen board there are solder pads for voltage/ground/video/audio l, r. There are also three other solder pads called hp l, hbps, and hp r if you are not going to have a headphone jack, just bridge these three solder pads and it tells the system that their arent any headphones ins...

Re: C-Stick as buttons
This mod would definatly save some space inside your portable but can you hold the c stick in an upward left angle and that would be the equivilant of pressing the left and up c buttons at the same time? Any way I prefer the c pad over the c stick.

Re: Hailrazer's 3rd N64 Portable --- The Kamikaze Clone
Woah this portable is going fast!!! In one fat week end you managed to get all the parts (except maybe the batteries because batteryspace doesn't have very fast delivery service) and you've practically got the case done.hailrazer wrote:OK got quite a bit done :

Re: Hailrazer's 3rd N64 Portable --- The Kamikaze Clone
There is that better. :P Also I got the thumbstick , buttons, triggers, and third coat done. Still have to put in d-pad, start button, and drill headphone/charging/power/AV/Controller Jack holes. And have to fill in the old button holes tomorrow cuz that's where the speaker holes go. Will post pics...

Very nice work man! although I would've reveresed the placement of the analog stick and the d pad. Doesn't look very cofertable to use the analog stick.

Re: New idea for my portable
Hmmm interesting, this means you could make the handheld much smaller. Not only that but you could also use the batteries for more then just the n64 because they are external.

I've tried that bic pen idea and it just doesn't work like at all. Its easier just to buy and 3$ game bit.

Re: Player 1 toggle switch
Solder both the built in data lines and the ground lines to their oringinal spots on the n64 mobo and then install a toggle switch on the voltage line (left side of the switch goes to the controller port, middle goes to the n64 mobo, and right goes to the built in controller).

Re: n64 memory card
Most of the games allow you to save your game straight onto the game cartridge itself however there are some good games out there like ray man 2 the grate escape, shadow man, and guantlet legends that require a memory card to save your game progress. If you have enough solder skill I would recommend...

Ofcourse I need to rewire it but I don't know what goes where..... If anybody has a pic of the board and be willing to mutlimeter check what goes...

You just got Joystiq'd too. Of course, the first commenter is some idiot who brings up N64 emulation on PSP... thankfully, he gets told pretty quickly. Emulating the nintendo 64 on my psp is actually what got me started on portablizing because the emulator was extreamly laggy, it didn't play even h...

Re: N64 Laptop Update
Hope this works out for you. I've never really been a big fan of laptops because of the analog stick. The analog stick sticks up too far and you aren't able to close it completely and it can damage the screen when you close it.
