The 33.86MHz to 40 MHz boost is a gain of 6.14 MHz, so it not getting hot is understandable. There is less than a 20% gain, but it is still a fairly nice one as overclocking percentages go. I've gotten less percentage overclock for more performance on a PC, but that's apples and oranges, I suppose. ...

It isn't the end of the world, but reviving an old thread just to ask a question which could as easily be asked in PMs is something that some of us don't like to see. It is frowned upon here to bring back old threads unless there has been a new development in the thread's topic or a substantial upda...

Paint tools, then I edited pixel by pixel with the help of the zoom tool. There are a lot of concepts at http://portablesofdoom.org/ , as well as completed consoles, most contributed by members of this forum. It is a good place to look for ideas, just be sure to make your own art and give credit whe...

...If you're going to take elements from my concept design from the POD site, by all means, but please at least give preoper credit. People, compare it to my concept PS1A design at the POD site. It was drawn in 9/10/2004. small http://portablesofdoom.org/images/ps1athumb.jpg full size http://portabl...

Molex is the large four-pin power connector for 5.25" drives, whereas Benz is the smaller 3.5" floppy power connector. The "nub" is likely a thin line of plastic that further aids in polarity. If I remember correctly, it is sometimes over the ground next to the yellow line, making it the -12V line. ...

If you want a Vectrex and can't find one by chance(I've only ever SEEN two, and bought them both), then keep an eye on Ebay. I tend to see base systems go for $40-70, $100 if they come with games, but if you're VERY lucky, you may catch one for $20. The prices seem to vary. Also keep in mind that sh...

I finished repairing (actually rebuilding) the controller. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/MM007/vecpsx.jpg Since I had to break open the controller instead of opening it normally, I put the rebuilt guts into a PSX controller, since the problem was extensive damage to the internal board's groun...

Someone named Yoshi did something similar, creating the Boxx. Tech TV has an article on it somewhere, or you can Google it. Also, you must keep in mind that you have to splice together power, audio, and video connections at the VERY least, and there are so many incompatible custom controller and car...

Another part of the awesome factor is that the owners of the technology (It reverted back to them after Milton Bradley dumped it), support open sourcing of their hardware, and have released the schematics. It is essentially as close to a commercial open source as you can get in an old system now, pe...

The X series was sweet, with x3 being my favorite. I also liked the never released in America game Mega Man: Wily Wars for the Genesis (even though half the sprites were ripped from MMX and MM7  ). CTFan I've played Wily Wars in the past, and they seem more like upgraded NES sprites than rippe...

Yard Sales and Goodwill: Second Vectrex
Today was the kickoff of the yard sale weekend here in my hometown, and I went around to about 30 yeard sales, picking up various things such as: old Black and White LCD portable TV Brownie Camera 2A with a patent year of 1916 (don't ask, it was spur-of-the-moment) 1000 sheets of tractor feed printe...
