Re: The best way to fixe a 3 RRDOD?
the 3 RROD issue can be caused by a number of factors. Most now feel that it is caused by the GPU needing to have a reflow of it's solder. This is likely the primary cause of the 3 RROD. The X-Clamp doesn't actually fix this issue, it just applies more pressure to the GPU forcing it to make contact....

Re: Which Antivirus Software do you use ? Why?
My own machine uses Mcafee as I get it free through MSN (friend's account) My Home Theater uses AVG, and I typically install AVG on client machines. FWIW the computer show I goto religously uses Kapersky, and these are guys that i actually respect. They are "in the know" about dealing with frontline...

Re: Connect PC to TV
NCIX.COM you can get a ATI 4350 for less than $40 and it has both VGA/DVI and HDMI. In response to other comment re: sound via HDMI - pretty much every ATI card from 4xxx series on and possibly the 3xxx series on has audio over HDMI. It will work for sure in stereo and supposedly works in 5.1 or 7.1...

Re: Latest XBOX commission project
This is the inspiration behind the idea... http://metku.net/cryo/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I think it would look good with a sort of LED ring but with two or three at the bottom of it to kind of force the light from the bottom up. I would also recommend the semi crumpled alumin...

Re: Latest XBOX commission project
If you want to have some fun with the XBOX dash jewel, you could always put in some blue LEDs and scratch up the bottom of the jewel a little. Put a Lego figurine of Han Solo in there and he'll be frozen in carbonite.... Yeah, it's kinda geeky, but also awesome! If you want to have some real fun, us...

Re: Latest XBOX commission project
outstanding mods: 1. Blue LEDs wired strategically around the XBOX 2. Blue LED fan to increase airflow, don't ask how it works, it just does 3. Possible window mod (highly doubtful) 4. Modchip (if commission-er wants to pay for it) in re: 1 - don't get your hopes up. They often don't work out or loo...

Re: Red Ring If Death
First look into the secondary error code. 2nd check your warranty and if it is at all covered DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIX IT. If it isn't under warranty, maybe get a new case for it with a bigger fan and reflow the solder via heat gun (towels are for killing the box). There are many videos on how to do th...

Re: xBook Worklog (Now Powered via PicoPSU!!)
I hate how so many of these places charge an arm and a leg for 15 minutes of their time and $10 worth of supplies... I understand they have a business to run and all, but I got some clear acrylic to replace a PC window once, $20 for the sheet. If I wanted it cut to size and screw holes drilled, $40....

Re: xBook Worklog (Now Powered via PicoPSU!!)
sounds to me like the fan connection header has been grounded and is forcing the fan to 100%. I would go into your bios settings and see if lowering fan speed actually works or if she just runs full tilt all the time now. If it does then you have a few choices. 1 ignore it 2 trace and find out where...

Re: xBook Worklog (Now Powered via PicoPSU!!)
The rear case fan of the xbox is down volted by default. If you have grounded it to anywhere other than the original grounding point it runs full blast. Alternatively your xbox's BIOS could have been flashed with run fan at 100%... I'd keep it that way for the short term until you have taken temp te...

Re: Noob lookin for help
not sure if you and reapr are one and the same, but take a look at what I posted in my response to reapr and you will get the basic idea for what you will need to do before you start looking to get a case together. Also please read the forums for other worklogs from people who have completed a succe...

Re: Making a hand made case
Fair enough that most LCDs are backlit by default, but the reality is that if it is going to be a handheld that is backlit then you pretty much need to have it LED backlit unless you only want to play a game for an hour. Anyways Reapr I wasn't trying to convince you to give up on the project, but ju...

Okay Junior, you're going to have to slow this train down for a minute. I'll break down what you are trying to do in a way that may make more sense to you. Mentally picture that you want to make a custom, high end car that is smaller than the original you are taking the parts from and looks good. Wo...
