Re: nes/snes retro duo! pics, review, hacking info 3/24/09
I don't know what's up with that scrolling line, but no matter whether I use Composite or S-Video on my RetroDuo, it doesn't go away. Though I will make note of this: the NES side(at least on my RetroDuo) has MASSIVE interference when I have the audio hooked up to the console. I get diagonal waves a...

Re: my first snes portable project- cartridge slot catastrophe!
I've got some news for ya: many original model Super NESes use plug-in cartridge slots. It's a 2-piece system where there's a set of pins soldered on the motherboard, but the slot itself is a separate piece that plugs into the set of pins. It'll make it easier for you.

Re: I may make my first portable - details inside
I know you can split the GN Twin into a fully-functional NES and Genesis, however, as I don't own a RetroDuo, I won't be able to help you with that. Sorry. Actually, the Genesis compatibility on the GN Twin is about 99.99%, as the 32X works(but there's no way to mix the video outputs), Virtua Racing...

Re: I may make my first portable - details inside
Typical NOAC, no Castlevania III(dark green screen), no Rad Racer II(no power, power light is VERY dim). The sound is just like all the other NOACs out there except for the jeweled FC Twin and RetroDuo: the sound pitch is reversed. I've had major issues with After Burner as well(unlicensed Tengen ca...

Re: FC twin 50/60hz mod question (+ adding a CIC chip tutorial)
My FC Twin has Yobo branding on it, and it has the better colors/sound but the same Super NES motherboard design as the older FC Twins with no branding. I did notice some FC Twins actually have no paint inside the cartridge slots(just bare gray plastic) and actually say "MADE IN CHINA" under the uni...

Re: Bringing a Genesis 3 back to life with... a GN Twin?
Pics of the COMPLETED project will come tomorrow. I just have to align the pushbutton for the Reset signal with the plastic piece on the Genesis 3's casing that pushes on the Reset button, and it's finished! It will be upgraded later on, however. As you know, the GN Twin has nasty Genesis audio qual...

I may make my first portable - details inside
I've recently been garnering a big interest in portable game systems after having gotten 2 GameBoys(DMG and Color models) and a Game Gear, so I figured, why not build one? There is the FC Mobile available, but it doesn't seem all that appealing to me, especially with the cartridges making massive to...

Bringing a Genesis 3 back to life with... a GN Twin?
Yep, that's right, I have a dead Genesis 3 that I'm reviving with the Genesis board off my GN Twin(I know it has nothing to do with portables, but it's still a console mod). It's the only board I have that can fit inside the Genesis 3, so I can only use that. But, along with the new board comes some...

Re: A good place for noacs, but only one problem
lmao ps one (it's one of the ones that plays NES games) and I'm not sure if that genesis 3 is the real deal. I think it might be a new one made by some Chinese company. It sure ain't the real deal, but it may have better compatibility than the original(Virtua Racing and add-ons). Who knows? They ma...

Re: FC3plus SNES/NES/Genesis in 1 - Updated with pics &Comp.List
Well, I do have an FC Twin and a GN Twin, so if it fails with original hardware, I'll use the FC Twin's hardware, plus a modified Genesis Model 2 or the Genesis board from my GN Twin modified for better sound. By the way, do you have a picture of the underside of the FC3 Plus' Genesis board? The Gen...

How big is the system itself? I was looking to make one using a spare NES, Super NES and Genesis.

You have your region switch set to the wrong setting. As Lovablechevy mentionned, there's a switch behind the GN Twin. It's labelled O/J. O stands for Overseas(American and region-free European games) and J for Japan(self-explanatory). Flip that switch to the correct position and the game will run. ...

By the way, I may have figured out how to use original Sega controllers on the Gen-X(and GN Twin) - look at those 2 chips next to the voltage regulator under the GOAC(TecToy-580G chip in the center of the Gen-X motherboard). Those chips convert the NES controller signals from the Gen-X and GN Twin c...

That's a factory thing done. Almost every Genesis Model 1 has those wires(except for very late Genesis Model 1s, which have motherboard revision VA7 - from what I can tell, your Genesis is a VA6 revision, the last revision of the Genesis Model 1 to make use of those wires). They're needed for RAM. C...

As long as the PAL carts don't check that the console is running in PAL or NTSC, they'll work. You have to rig another switch after the unit to make it alter between PAL and NTSC modes(which I have no idea how to do). As a side note, the Genesis side can output RGB straight off the TecToy-580G chip ...
