nope. it works fine with the original power supply.
i got a bigger capacitor(35volts) for the pth08000 and now the voltage is at 2.875, so i think i just need around a 50 volt capacitor

pth08000 drops voltage .8000 volts when wired to the n64
i'm trying to make a portable n64, obviously and i don't understand why the voltage on the pth08000 drops when it is wired on the n64. when i tested it just wired to the battery's power circuit i was getting 3.3 volts, but for some reason when it is soldered to the board of the n64 it drops .800 vol...

Re: introducing the new (wip) n64 flipscreen portable!!!
oops, sorry. i put that the wrong way.
if the new regulators don't work, then i'll get a battery with higher amps.
the charger i'm using is rated at 9 volts dc 2.22a

Re: introducing the new (wip) n64 flipscreen portable!!!
i've have the same problem with 2 different ti pth08000 regulators. i think i might buy a whole new n64, because i really need a test board, and the cartridge slot relocation i did was sloppy. it does work perfectly, though. i'm trying to troubleshoot this board, but so far, there is nothing wrong wi...

Re: introducing the new (wip) n64 flipscreen portable!!!
i never plugged the 17 volt line into the n64, i just tested it. well, i tried turning it on, and nothing happened. it still doesn't work. the 3.3 volt line is still just 2 volts. it's done this with every power source i have tried, and some most of them were, infact, 2.22 amps. i have no idea why i...

Re: introducing the new (wip) n64 flipscreen portable!!!
i figured it out!!!!! i can't check amps at the moment, but i rewired everything, and then checked my universal power adapter with my multimeter(it's been acting funny for some reason) and it was giving off 17 volts at any setting, so i tried unplugging it and looking at it. it only gives out 300ma....

i'm getting one at radioshack on saturday, though
all i can do right now is make an educated guess.

Re: Consolidated Nintendo Power Supply Circuit
let me tell you this. (for the n64)make sure the power supply has atleast 1.3 amps of power, and for the expansion pack, you need atleast 1.5 amps for it to run. i'm trying to make a handheld portable n64, and am discovering it is a female of the dog species just trying to power it with a battery. i...

Re: introducing the new (wip) n64 flipscreen portable!!!
ok, i think i know what the problem is. when i tested the batteries first with the n64 and it worked, barely, it had been charging for about 15 minutes, and every other time i tried playing it, the battery was plugged into an electrical outlet. i think when i tested the regulator alone, it read 3.26...

Re: introducing the new (wip) n64 flipscreen portable!!!
-update- i ordered my new regulators, got em today, and tested them before i wired them into the power circuit. 3.642 volts. tested with everything wired to the power circuit 2.756 volts. apparently there is something wrong with my power sources, because there is no way i ordered 2 defective pth0800...

Re: introducing the new (wip) n64 flipscreen portable!!!
yah, that's what i plan to do. my dad does have an amp meter, but he uses it on machines, plus the clips are for cables 1 inch thick. i'm not sure if my dad said it right but it tests at like 5000 amps. i really have no idea if it does, but i do know that 1 volt of the highest amps it tests can blow...
