Re: NEST build log
Methinks something like this needs to be done with Neo Geo... hmm, I think I have all the parts 'cept for the screen.

BACK FROM THE DEAD! HUZZAH!
And by the way, nice job with that. I can't wait to see what you do with it.

Re: Plan for Pandora mod
transcoding the videos to 800x480 could be time consuming (and illegal in the US). OK, quite possibly time consuming, but would consume less time than building this crazy huge list of mods. Secondly, transcoding a BluRay disc you own is perfectly legal, it's called fair use rights. Now, giving it t...

Re: Finding a cab to house a project?
Here's what I would do. Go to the arcade, and see if the machines have a vendor sticker on them. Usually arcades don't have their own machines, they come from some dealer/operator in the area. The go to the operator and see what he's got, they usually have some older beat up rigs they're going to ju...

Re: Limpport's NESp worklog (BACK FROM THE GRAVE!)
Can't wait to see what you do with this. It looked cool then, looks cool now! OK, so you want to dim LED's? You can just increase the resistance on the LED. However, the circuit in the PSOne screen doesn't actually drive a variable-resistance circuit, so you might just need to use a pot. I have hear...

Re: Project Hack2X NEW PICS!!! 07/16/09!!
Wow, it looks great. Still, it makes one think, why in the world can't GPH make a handheld that makes sense? Why should you have to mod it to make it go from a somewhat cool system to a really awesome one? I guess that's why Nintendo seems to have such a firm grip on the handheld market. Amazing, am...

Re: NES Reprogrammable cartridge project
Well, that kinda depends on the mapper of the cartridge you are using. I forget exactly what kind of eprom I used, so I may have to check tonight when I get home. In the mapper 0 cartridges (which BTW, are actually no mapper) you can just drop this particular eprom into place. Keep in mind also that...

Re: MGB screen modding
By the way, don't bother selling at 8bitcollective - everyone there makes empty offers but rarely seem to actually pull through! most people @ 8bc use DMG's for music. and they either get them backlighted by nonfinite or they buy one of his diy kits. we tend not to use pockets because they drain th...

Re: DS MUD Client
Another possibility is a non-flash based one, one which uses java script and PHP, perhaps? What you should look out for is a terminal app, one that can do telnet. I have no clue if any such thing exists. As far as I am aware you can do that with the hardware, since all you need to do is interpret AS...

Re: DSi- Firmware Flash?
Well, someone will break the cryptology. Some developer will get an unscrupulous employee and the crypto will get leaked. Count on it. It happened with CSS, it happened with Blu-Ray, it will probably happen with DSi. Or someone will stumble upon a bug in a game and get through. Or better still, no m...

Re: DS MUD Client
My thought would be to find some kind of a web based telnet extension, but that might involve scripting and get quite messy on the DS's screen. Seeing as most good MUDs run on BBS'es with Telnet, you should look for a terminal app for the DS.

Because they're musicians, of course. These artsy types seldom jump quickly. I tend to be a stickler myself, which is why I'm building my own.
EDIT: it could also be because the economy is in the toilet...

Re: MGB screen modding
UPDATE: Success! I have finally done a backlit MGB! However, right now the diffuser I am using is handmade, and therefore crap. And for some reason it's dim when playing with batteries and bright with the power supply plugged in. Needs more tweaking. Perhaps I'll take some pictures soon. Still, It's...

And since I am going to want to do more of these probably (to improve my technique) I just want to know, are the Japanese pockets much (or any) different inside than the US ones? Because I want to mod one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/NINTENDO-GAME-BOY-POCKET-CLASSIC-GREY-IMPORT-JAPAN_W0QQitemZ26041...
