I must have unusually sensitive ears, as I can easily perceive all sound problems and I can't stand them. Would it work to remove the Gen-X's NES board and use the rest to put it into my Genesis 3? If so, of what use would the NES board be? Would it be difficult to add in a power switch/reset button...

The sound problems really bugged me. I have very sensitive ears that can pick up every little difference, and when sound has static(late Genesis 1s and most Genesis 2s) or scratching(Gen-X and one of my Genesis 2s), it grates my ears. A good way to record sound of the GN Twin is to use your computer...

Before portableizing, I should inform you that these clones have some horrid Genesis audio that scratches like crazy and has some volume problems(on that note, Lovablechevy, can you record the game that sounds the most horrid on the GN Twin and on an original Genesis(what model is your Genesis?)?), ...

I still don't get it. Anyways, we'll put that MODE button issue to rest. 32X compatibility on the Gen-X is actually crippled due to the following problems: -No place to plug in the 32X patch cable(you get either the Genesis or 32X video layers), and using a Y-cable to join the 2 video outputs produc...

I know. The controllers aren't even designed like original Genesis pads. They don't have the same signals at all. Take a look here: http://pinouts.ru/Game/genesiscontroller_pinout.shtml The Gen-X controllers are not wired like that at all. They have VCC(+5V), G(Ground), those 2 which are connected t...

Strange.... Then why did After Burner Complete(this is a 32X game, btw) fire the F-14's machine guns when the Select button was pressed on my Gen-X? MODE and C are used to fire the machine guns in After Burner Complete, so Select can only be a MODE button. What other games are 3-button dependent oth...

Re: Genesis Building Thread
I Want to build a Sega Genesis portable Is this model a good one to use? http://store.videogamecentral.com/gn-twin.html I have seen another that has built in games, but many reviews say it cant play genesis games... the gn twin has the best compatibility of the 3 nes/genesis clones i have. on the g...

I think I may have figured out why original Sega accessories don't work on the Gen-X or any other Genesis/NES 2-in-1 for that matter. I have a Gen-X controller disassembled next to me, and I see some writing on the wires that lead to the DB9 plug on the controller that doesn't correspond to the Gene...

Complete Gen-X playtest
Lovablechevy once had a thread with a review on the Gen-X, which was lost during the 2-week revert, so I'll put up my playtest to compensate for it. NES: 110-in-1(Hong Kong multi-cart): compatible 1943: compatible 31-in-1(Hong Kong multi-cart): compatible After Burner(Tengen cart): INCOMPATIBLE - Ga...

I'd buy this thing ONLY if Virtua Racing works on it. Any pins on the cartridge slot that don't have any connection to the GOAC? EDIT: This GOAC clone is a pile of crap!!! Look at this video: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=XZfvVoRd-Jg This is an abomination to the Genesis/MegaDrive!!!! How the hell c...

I am noticing it getting a bit warm near the cart slot. That's normal. My Top-loader NES does the same thing(it is in essence made the same way internally as the AV Famicom, except with a 72-pin connector and an RF unit). This is because the voltage regulator inside the system reduces the voltage f...

I wouldn't bother doing anything to this POS aside from popping out some standard AV ports, unless the crap video encoder isn't a pain to pull RGB from. The Samsung KA2195D is the absolute worst video encoder ever put in a Sega Genesis. Trust me, I have 2 Genesis 2s with the KA2195D, and the image ...
