RRoD fix
Was given a RRoD phat xbox some time ago. The error indicated a memory issue. It was already stripped down and someone had tried to reflow using a blow dryer. At least they didn't do any damage to it.. I covered the various sensitive parts as best i could with aluminum foil (not wrapping them, just ...

FWIW I dont believe that a disk drive failing to spin will cause a RROD..
If there was no disk in it, it should have still consistently brought you to the dashboard.

@Waterloo - digital vs analog Analog - squeeze the trigger to go from semi auto to fully auto, the harder you squeeze, the faster you fire. Digital - don't squeeze, no shooting, squeeze and you are full auto. Digital is all or nothing, on or off like a light switch. Analog is more like a dimmer swit...

Re: Gebby's Slim Xbox Laptop
I believe that it is an LCD panel of some sort, probably a monitor, not a laptop LCD.
I think he just used the Dell bezel from the laptop to save himself the headache of building a custom case for the LCD.

Re: 3PS60 Controller, Wired 360 controller in PS3 shell
If I'm not mistaken, RDC usually charges somewhere along the lines of $400-$500 for the wired 3PS60 controller. This might change when he has the wireless board all done up, but we will have to wait and see. Personally, I thik that is the way to go, to build a PS3 size board that can natively accept...

Re: solderfree xbox modchips
you dont have to go on ebay to find these. gamestop or eb games or whatever used game place has them for about $30
pawn shops will be in the same boat. Unless you find one that is still in the original box, they will all be in the same condition. Just see if anyone has one that is 1.0-1.1

Re: solderfree xbox modchips
You probably could get one that is already modded at no additional expense. Honestly I think more of them are modded now than are stock. Anyways, I should think about $30 or so should cover the box, controller, and cords - anything beyond that is too much IMO. Regardless of how much you pay, you sho...

Re: solderfree xbox modchips
@Galadun - if you want to mod this thing to the extreme, I can help (without shipping) but I'll need a few answers to a few questions first. We will need to know (A) what version of xbox you have (B) if you are comfortable with some extremely minor soldering (C) if you have access to a computer with...

Re: 3PS60 Controller, Wired 360 controller in PS3 shell
i wonder how hard it would be to get a lead on all the values of the various components. It might cost a little more in the short term, but I'm guessing that in the long run having a "drop in" replacement for the PS3 board woulld be the end game here.

Re: Xbox 360 WVI (Wireless Video Interface) V.2
mayhaps you should talk to RDC as I think he is doing up a mini board for the wireless controller. He has done up a mini board for the wired controller that is considerably smaller, I think that the wireless board could be down to a couple of inches on a board.. If RDC is putting together some of th...

Re: Gebby's Slim Xbox Laptop
@Superben - I did mention the whole "not modding" thing in my post. I was merely indicating that the EEPROM should be backed up (which can be done without modding) so that WHEN (not if) the hard drive fails in the future, another hard drive can be used as a replacement. That prevents having to throw...

Re: Gebby's Slim Xbox Laptop
I get the whole not modding it idea and respect that - but FWIW at some point in time you should probably run one of the save game mods and back up the EEPROM without modding the system. I'd hate to see this thing go through a complete build and then see the hard drive die on it. Easy enough to pull...
