Re: WTB: Legend of Zelda Master Quest GCM
I know I have it, but I'll have to find it first. How much are you willing to pay? I'll PM you if I'm able to find where I put it.

Re: Would 12V input to the 7805 damage the regulator/system?
Most of the cheap "replacement" NES power cords on ebay will actually output 12V, rather than the 9V that they say they do. If you can give it less, it definitely wouldn't hurt, but 12V won't kill it if it's adequately cooled. The heatsink that the NES has on the 7805 does get very hot from 12V, tho...

Re: Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to everybody else. So far, the best things that I've got are gift cards for Micro Center and Target and a $10 bill. I also got an acceptance letter from Wayne State on Christmas Eve, which I was very happy with (and not quite expecting), because of my fairly dismal GPA. I guess my ma...

If it's just a few LEDs, you could use a resistor.

Re: Can Nintendo or the Console Manufacturers sue you for mods?
Another issue is Kibble. Is it illegal to modify their board like that, a re-design it? Since he's not mass-producing them to sell, I think he's ok. Even if he was, I don't know if nintendo would bother, but that would be in a grey/possibly unlawful area. But the type of people buying them wouldn't...

You will probably also want a standalone video card, as well, if you're going to have a nice computer.

You should also check newegg (and micro center if you have one nearby). I'm really tired, so I won't get you any suggestions right now, but I probably can after school.

My XPS can handle SC II pretty much maxed out... But I am quite rusty on my starcraft skills, been playing too much WoW lately :p Don't worry, I haven't even played SC II at all. :P I've got you beat. I haven't played it at all, and I don't have a laptop that can run it. :P I don't have a laptop th...

Re: do heatsinks matter?
The simple answer is yes, you need heatsinks and thermal paste. Other than that, you will be fine. I just recommend not using the stock ones. i will, though is is their anything i can use other than thermal paste?... Thermal adhesive or thermal tape? If you use thermal adhesive, they'll never come ...

I got an orange weller! Tim filed the tip down weird and now it's almost gone, and they're special screw on tips! It hasn't died on me yet, but I haven't had it for long. Re: No VGA female on desktop?
some older comps that have booted with the same video card for a while have some issues with booting with a different one. Try telling him to put his video card in a different slot unless there is only one slot. If the comp is that old it could be a PCI-E slot that isn't the same speed as the video...
