Re: FC 16 Go internal pics -- First Commercial Snes Portable
Simple. Look at this image: http://jonjandran.com/pics/jonjandran/fc162.JPG You see the solder blob in front of the TCT-976 chip(the writing is backwards)? Simply move that blob over to the other side of the jumper, and the FC16 Go will run in PAL. The question is: will the screen support the PAL vi...

Re: nes/snes retro duo! pics, review, hacking info 3/24/09
I just took a look at the CXA1645 and KA2198BD datasheet and I noticed that the CXA1645 requires a few more components to work properly. Compare the datasheets: -CXA1645(look on page 10 for the NTSC circuit): http://www.gamesx.com/rgbadd/cxa1645.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; -KA...

Re: nes/snes retro duo! pics, review, hacking info 3/24/09
I haven't tried, but I think this supposed "ground loop" is on the Super NES board(what exactly is a ground loop and how do you eliminate it?). I once tried to hook up the Super NES Composite and S-Video straight into the RetroDuo's Composite and S-Video jacks, but it did absolutely nothing to elimi...

Re: nes/snes retro duo! pics, review, hacking info 3/24/09
Tried the video fix for the Super NES side with a 470uF capacitor. The static is STILL visible, but it's almost cleared up completely(it's very faint, now; before the video fix, the static was clearly visible on EVERY game I played). A word of note: if you're using the standard RetroDuo video amp fo...

Re: nes/snes retro duo! pics, review, hacking info 3/24/09
There's actually more to the sound fix than just that capacitor. I found out, while looking at my FC Twin's NES sound circuit, that there's not only a capacitor missing on the RetroDuo's NES sound circuit, but there's also a RESISTOR missing from the circuit, and if it's not present, the sound will ...

Re: FC 16 Go internal pics -- First Commercial Snes Portable
Do I see a solder spot for a Super NES lockout chip? Look at the empty solder spot U9 on the motherboard. http://jonjandran.com/pics/jonjandran/fc162.JPG It's exactly like the one on the FC Twin's Super NES board before it got "Made in China" printed on the box and console(the Super NES board was re...

Re: New commercial Snes Handheld out
Actually, there is no such thing as a Super NES-on-a-chip. If you had a look at the Super NES sides of the RetroDuo, FC Twin and FC3 Plus, they use about 7 different chips, with 3 of them replicating the main functions of a Super NES(APU, PPU, CPU), with the others being the RAM. The same hardware d...

Re: Flashing NES
Fixed. No need to shell out money for a new 72-pin connector when the problem is caused by the pins being too loose.Joes2Silly wrote:Better yet, put the lockout chip on a disable/enable switch and tighten the existing 72 pin connector

Re: GN Twin, Genesis portable
Thanks SparkFist! Now, I don't exactly remember the pinouts of the glop-top boards, but I have a sheet where I wrote down which pins carry Genesis controller signals, so I'll go pull that out and modify your image of the entire GN Twin Genesis board to give you the pinouts according to a Genesis con...

Re: GN Twin, Genesis portable
What I would really like would be a closeup of the sound circuitry used on the GN Twin, and, if possible, the source of the sound outputs(there are 3: FM left, FM right, PSG). I will be fitting a new sound circuit on mine to clean up the sound. That's actually the reason why the GN Twin sounds so ba...

Re: GN Twin, Genesis portable
The controller signals can be tapped from the 2 glop-top boards on the GN Twin's Genesis board. The GN Twin uses NES controller signals interfaced via conversion chips(the glop-top boards) to convert the NES controller signals into signals that the Genesis side understands, since the signals are dif...

Re: nes/snes retro duo! pics, review, hacking info 3/24/09
Guys, I'd like someone to confirm this for me: a fellow forum member on Sega-16 had told me that the RetroDuo has a ground loop somewhere within the system that causes the thick strips of static to be visible on the Super NES side. Here's his post: http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showpost.php?p=193061&...

Re: Snes mini Led mod questions
I added a power LED to my Super NES Mini, but I need to open it up since I don't remember where I soldered the points for the voltage and Ground. Keep in mind: you need a resistor on the positive voltage of between 350 and 450 ohms, otherwise, you will burn out the LED.

Re: Official SNES Controller?
That's a Yobo pirated Super NES controller. They used that exact same controller with added rapid-fire circuitry for the FC Twin. Last and most obviously, the nintendo logo. The pirate ones have the nintendo logo on the front of the controller. the officail ones have a grey decal that says "super ni...

Re: Nes controller Fc Twin Help
No need to shrink the board. Just take an official NES controller, take out the cord and solder the wires as follows where the FC Twin controller's wires are soldered(each hole is labeled): White: FC Twin VCC Brown: FC Twin GND Yellow: FC Twin DO Orange: FC Twin PL Red: FC Twin CLK That's it! If thi...
