Famicom/clone scene in Korea?
Hi everyone. I just received orders to Korea (seriously, like 2 hours ago) and I'm still trying to decide whether or not to be excited about that lol. I was wondering if any of you were aware of any kind of Famicom/Famiclone culture in South Korea. I know that in some places, like Russia, for instan...

Re: Another super joy portable (DONE)
That came out nice. Sounds good and loud. Can you provide some info on the audio circuit you used?

Re: nes suddenly not working
DSV101, I swiped the lockout "key" chip from my copy of Jaws and installed it in place of the lockout chip on my NES. It didn't fix my problem, but it didn't make it any worse, therefore, it would seem that the chips are interchangeable, so give it a shot, it might do the trick for you. While you ha...

Re: Anyone else have trouble desoldering 60 pin connector?
Heat gun, maybe? Worked like a charm for me for desoldering. Hmm, I might give that a try next time. I've almost finished my portable, decided not to relocate the cart slot. The last hurdle in my way is getting an original NES controller to work with the Power Player board. I'm setting the project ...

Re: nes suddenly not working
i have the same problem with my first nes, i accidentally ripped the pin out of the lockout chip, it lights up, nothing gets hot, and it doesn't play games. Then i started wiggling the cart around in the 72 pin connector, i started getting some video (well colors and a few audio bleep bloops, lol) ...

Re: nes parts help
Yeah, Radio Shack kinda sucks... You could probably scavenge both of those components from a broken portable DVD player, or any number of portable electronic items from Goodwill or the Salvation Army or something. Let me know if you still have problems finding those components, I might be able to he...

NES still not working, want to try something. Advice?
I even tried my NES with a Game Genie. The GG boots up the same way all other games boot up. Scrambled graphics... It seems to give me the same pattern of scrambled graphics with every game I try. I'm starting to suspect my PPU is fried, maybe by static or something? I'd be willing to try replacing ...

Re: Fun to drive cars
Miatas are fun to drive. Not fun to get in and out of. Not fun to get -caught- in unless you like being made fun of by your friends, but they handle and turn like go-karts, get great gas mileage, they're pretty dang cheap, and surprisingly easy to work on. And contrary to what you might think, V8 sw...

Re: Another super joy portable updated
Nice. Easiest 72 pin conversion ever. I might use the same method when I build my portable, unless I decide to just keep the 60 pin and only use Famicom carts. Very clever idea. You get that adapter from Stone Age Gamer?
*Edit* Jeeze, sorry about the bump. Didn't even catch the date on this thread

Anyone else have trouble desoldering 60 pin connector?
I'm trying to desolder the 60 pin cartridge connector from a Power Player NOAC so I can relocate it and make a slim portable, but about half of the pins are held in by a healthy glob of solder on both sides of the PCB. My desoldering iron doesn't seem to be able to melt both halves at once, and I ca...

"new" (to me) Famicom!
My Famicom arrived in the mail the other day! 20 bucks off Ebay. Not bad. 15 dollar shipping was rather lame, but what are you gonna do, right? I've wanted one of these since I was a kid, so I'm -probably- not going to mod it, but the size of this thing is nuts! The board inside is no bigger than an...

Re: nes suddenly not working
(bump) nobody's fixed or encountered this problem, eh? Oh well. I'll keep plugging away at it until I figure out what's wrong, and if I ever do fix it, I'll be sure to post.

nes suddenly not working
Got a "toaster" NES from Ebay about a week ago. First thing I did was disable the lockout chip. Then I replaced the 72 pin connector with a standard 72 pin card edge connector. Soldered it directly to the board. After those mods, my NES played every single game I tried on in, 100 percent of the time...

Re: 72 pin card edge connectors available
Sorry, the connectors aren't suitable for NES carts They are very close, but the pitch is off by just a fraction. I wired on up to my NES board, and I could only ever get Mega Man II to work with it. Soo, I'm not going to be selling or trading any of these. Sorry

Re: Super-joys becoming scarce?
The item pictured in the add was the old revision, shaped like a N-64 controller with a non-functional joystick, you've all seen those. The ones sent were shaped like XBox 360 controllers, and lacked the connector. The seller said they would give me a full refund. Pkmnjunky7, Muniosi, I am awaiting ...
