Re: NES, voltage & amps
Depends on what type of regulator you're using. A standard 7805 can easily handle the amps the NES uses (it's got a 7805 in it after all) and can take 12 volts without any real issue, though I think at that voltage it may need a decent heat sink on it...

It'll be a while before it reaches the age that I was when I finally got one
Should probably get to starting my DC portable thread already...I've made enough progress I think...

I know that screen. It will run on 5v, but the picture is very dim. The minimum I'd run through it is 6v.

Re: NES 80's Laptop
Holy cow progress!! If the screen fizzles out after a minute, it might be because the power supply isn't providing enough amperage for the whole shabang. The NES sucks up a beefy 650 mAh by itself. Dunno what the screen itself pulls, but i'm sure it's taking a bit since it's rocking a cathode filame...

Ah snap, you should've PM'd me that question, now I'm a week late answering it  But yes, it arrived and it works great! Man that VGA is so insanely crisp...you wouldn't think there'd be that much of a difference between that and composite on a screen that's only 5", but it's seriously like nigh...

Re: Please help me identify this NOAC
The ebay screens require no backlight mod, so they're easy peezy lemon squeezy that way
As for the minimum voltage needed to run them, most of the time they'll run happily on as little as 5 volts. Some prefer more power for some reason, but those are rare.

Re: Please help me identify this NOAC
Ah, the controller....that's a different story. It's definetly worth a shot to hook up the famicom controller and see what happens. Otherwise, your best bet is to identify the main wires; ground and +5v....then just mix and match the in between wires and see if something works then. As for the site,...

Re: Please help me identify this NOAC
What pinout are you needing? the superjoy has a famicom cart slot on it, so the pins in the cart slot should all be the same.
BTW, nice touch with the beer bottle caps
