The disks do degrade over time though, a lot of the ones I picked up do skip. I may let the wife decorate with some of the cooler looking disks and sleeves.
They get quite heavy, both the players and the physical disks, which you may want to keep in mind if you are going to be moving a lot.

They are about the size of a LP record....I mean dinner plate. :) They were the cutting edge video format (cough.Blueray) for a little bit with the major downsides being no affordable personal recorders and detioration of the disks over time. I'm sure wikipedia has an entry on these. I wouldn't worr...

A bad year for me breaking new things
ACK! First my digital camera burns up the lens mechanism (luckily a few weeks before the warranty went out) Then my PSP's UMD drive stops reading disks (still being worked on) And now the crap DVD-RAM drive in my toshiba laptop isn't recognizing DVD's. It will burn and play CD's, but won't do anythi...

I would like to say that I normally find FPS games about as fun as watching paint dry, but I really like HALO. It's the little touches like the aliens screeching "we're all going to die!" and the cutscenes that don't disrupt gameplay. Morrowind is a good deep RPG, if you can get used to the controls...

Here's the ebay link: Twin Famicom They usually sell for anywhre from $80-$145 deliver2d, but sometimes ebay suprises me (I had a regular old famicom sell for $125 a couple weeks ago) I tried the FDS with my 60-pin Yobo and it was actually worse than the blue powerjoy. It may be something that someo...

They fixed the bug that let you install the linux in later versions of the game, including the platinum version. The only way to make be sure you have the correct version is the tiny serial numbers on the inner ring of the disk. I got mine for $.01 from ebay (plus $4.99 shipping) which isn't bad, it...

Cart connector pitch question
Is the cart connector the same pitch between the SNES and NES/famicom?
I'm working on a super-duper nintendo portable to play famicom and SNES games and I am wondering if I can use the same connector for both cartridges.

My "gifted and talented" teacher from middle school did a pretty cool experimental "ghost walk" one night at the local civil war prison in Point Lookout, Maryland. The people on the walk bought new sealed tapes and each brought their own tape recorder (state of the art in 80-something) but they pick...
Or you could get a USB drive. You can get a 512 MB drive foir $15 after rebates. Or you could get a USB Hard Drive enclosure and throw any ol' IDE HD into it. (I have one, it cost $30 at CompUSA. It's had a 4 gig, a 13 gig, and now an 80 gig HD.) Thumb drives are the best thing ever, I love mine. /...

If you really wanted to make sure it wouldn't run out, you could get a low dropout regulator. Also, those batteries look alright, but you can get a better deal here at Power101 . The shipping is killer, but it is cheaper in the end. Go with what you want, though. It is your project. Have you used t...
