Re: geno whirl's N64 portable worklog
Got my case in the mail today. I didn't get a chance to look at it that much because i had to leave for something but here is what i saw. The box looked pretty beat up like it had been in a basement for years. when i took it out of the box the screen and adapter were still in plastic and the screen ...

Re: geno whirl's N64 portable worklog
Got my battery and case in the mail today. They were all out of black cases so I got grey but who really cares? I'm gonna paint it anyway. There appear to be no screws on the battery and, contrary to the warning labels, I would like to get the battery out of its case. Maybe go after it with a saw? (...

Re: Super Mario RPG Version
hmm. a little bit of a bump there. when I said a million dollars I kinda meant $50 as being a lot (I'm not gonna buy a nearly 15 year old game for the price of a new one). It's funny, I am now working on a portable N64 so this doesnt really matter much anymore, but thanks for the help anyway!

Re: geno whirl's N64 portable worklog
Well apparently (I can never spell that word) the PS1 screen is brand new. we will have to see about that. and i probably could have gotten less for it but i went with pay it now because I can't stand the pressure of auctions! As for the wire, it works fine at the moment, but who knows?...

Re: ABCinc's first portable
You don't need to get a new case if you want a different color. just get some krylon fusion. It works well with plastic and does not need a primer.

Re: geno whirl's first N64 portable
ACK! Triple post! Alright you guys, I got some progress on the unit. I have extended the controller ports (yet to set up a switch between internal and external player 1 port) and relocated the cartridge slot. after the cartridge relocation, it occurred to me that i was no longer able to plug in the ...

You're lucky. I go back to school tomorrow. If you no longer have any questions about this topic, you might want to write "problem solved" in the title

Re: Controller help (respond asap :D )
you solder it to the points on the tact switch. tact switches usually have 4 prongs on them so you need to make sure you get the right positive one and the right negative one.
Man! You have a really long spring break!

Re: Controller help (respond asap :D )
I would suggest getting some perf board from radio shack or wherever else you may find it and get some tact switches. Set the tact switches up on the perf board the way that you want them, then connect the leads of the tact switches to the correct buttons on the controller board. This way, you do no...

Re: Powering screen with original power input?
If it is a PS1 screen then you will need something like a 7808 regulator to lower the voltage going to it. Otherwise you might ruin it with too much voltage.

Re: geno whirl's first N64 portable
Hmmm, I remember seeing a thread that had a list of most consoles/screens and their input voltage. I can't seem to find it now (should have bookmarked it ). Could anyone point me in the right direction if you know what I am talking about?

Re: Elephant64 Worklog
If you don't mind me asking, how did you mount the buttons so they won't turn in the case? Basically, what I am saying is how do you keep the buttons from turning upside down?
