Yes;
There is hope.
It is a wire or "trace", if you can solder it back in place things should start working again.
You will need to use flux or rosin to get it to stick to the contact since adding too much solder to it could be problematic, and oxidization will prevent it from connecting otherwise.

I got to experience the memory leak/cache override in 4.0(.0) . It spewed threads like it were trying to cause a heap overflow, fortunately the 4.0.1 fixed that (though it never acknowledged the fix in it's change log).
