Re: Can anyone enlighten me to the magic of lasers.
Well I don't know how much physics you know so I'll try and keep it fairly basic. Laser is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. What does this mean? Well the most important part to understand is the concept of stimulated emission and how it produces coherent light....

Re: Can anyone enlighten me to the magic of lasers.
I could talk about how the lasers produce coherent light by stimulated emission in a gas being excited into their third principal quantum state by an EM wave of super visible frequencies but I can see that that's not what you want here. So the mW and nm are both units meaning milliWatts and nanometr...

Re: Has anyone ever though of PS1Online?
Never seen anything like this thought of before. If you are thinking of somehow sniffing what's in the RAM and sending that over an internet connection I can say straight away that that won't work. I don't know what the speed of the FSB on the PS1 is but I would expect that its at least 20Mhz. When ...

Re: PIC N64 Controller
Yep, I'm doing combined computer engineering and physics at Newcastle. Lots and lots of fun. The clubs are the best. Mountaineering, Physics and even Quidditch. To keep with the electronics theme I even work at Jaycar now. Life is good. What did you end up doing?

Re: PIC N64 Controller
I'm going to be using the 18f26j53. I'll need to use some assembly for the time dependent parts of the project but for the other parts I'll just use C.

Re: PIC N64 Controller
Well the last board I made had some rather large and many small flaws. This new design should allow me to fully support memory and rumble pack, all buttons, c stick and USB to transfer save games onto computer and to upgrade software on the PIC. That's the plan anyway. http://i297.photobucket.com/al...

Re: Uh............wtf just happened? (subforums help)
Sadpanda. The one time I have something semi decent to post and the usually reliable forums are slightly down. I very much like the idea of subcategories. Hope the problems don't give you guys too much trouble.

Re: Inverter powered N64?
You probably won't be able to find any inverters under 150W and any that you do find will likely run of 12V. Despite this even if you found an inverter that would run of whatever batteries you were using it would still be a bad idea. Rather than inverting your DC voltage then feeding it into the N64...

Four things:
1. Don't bump old topics.
2. Wrong forum in any case.
3. A quick search would find what you need to know.
4. The headphone switch line needs to be connected to ground.

Re: Cart emulator progress thread
If you were to talk to a Pandora owner about getting impatient after 4 weeks I think they'd explode at you. Then after calming down they'd explain that it would be worth waiting 4 months if thats what it took.

Re: PIC N64 Controller
Tell you what, I've got a bit of free time this weekend. I'll quickly make up a basic release version for you. No rumble support or memory pack and For the 16f1827 rather than the 16f628a.
