Re: any pins on the NES Cartridge never/rarely used?
In addition to the 4 lockout chip pins, there are 10 pins that go directly from the cartridge slot to the expansion connector. These 14 pins aren't even present on the famicon connector. Here's a great cart slot pinout by benheck. http://benheck.com/Downloads/NES_Famicom_Pinouts.pdf" onclick="window...

Re: low_budget's Model 2 laptop complete!
I don't think there is a big market for these, but there probably is a bigger market for laptop current gen consoles than portables made from older systems. I recently sold my third laptop (the model 2) for $1,200 on ebay. Now I have no laptops and do not plan on building more. Sweet! Now I have fre...

low_budget's Model 2 laptop complete!
I finished my third game console based laptop, I call it the Model 2. I really busted my ass making this, I hope the work paid off. It has many improvements over the Model 1: It's 3/4 in thinner due to the monitor's power supply moving to the bottom. It's lighter by 1.5 pounds due to the use of less...

Re: Simple Circuit Reduce Voltage 10v to 3v
Use ohm's law. E ---- I | R E= volts I = amps R= ohms you need to know the voltage and amperage requirement for the led say the led is 3v and 20mA 10.5v - 3v = resistor voltage drop if the led uses .020 A, the resistor will use same amps (wired in series.) 7.5v divided by .020 A means you need a 375...

Re: New 160GB PS3 slim hardware
The measurements are pretty much the same as the other PS3 slim models.
whole system 11-1/16 x 10-1/2 x 2-3/16
motherboard 10-1/2 x 10-1/4 x 13/16
power supply 10-7/8 x 2-5/8 x 1-3/8
blu ray 7-1/2 x 5-3/4 x 1-1/2
BenHeck used the same version in his pelican case PS3.

Re: New 160GB PS3 slim hardware
Yeah, I thought people would discuss the new hardware. I thought it was interesting anyway. In other news, my latest laptop (using this hardware) is almost ready. I will post it in the member showcase when I get all the detailing right. Then I will retire from making laptops. What a crappy business ...

Other good gaming sites?
The website http://www.qj.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is pure trash. It doesn't look so bad at first, until you realize they have administrators posing as regular users. These administrators attack, insult, and dehumanize anyone that says anything negative about any gaming pro...

Re: Portable Xbox Hinges?
The sound amplifier Ben used was based on the TPA6021A4 amplifier chip. It's non stock but may be available at Digi Key, part # 296-18249-5-ND. The potentiometer he used for the volume control has been discontinued so it may be hard to find. I have a completed circuit with headphone jack and speaker...

New 160GB PS3 slim hardware
It seems the PS3 slim had another redesign recently. This would be the third (?) version of the PS3 slim. It has a different blu ray drive than the earlier CECH-2100A and CECH-2000A. It seems the blu ray drive's circuitry was moved to the motherboard with separate connectors for the laser, worm moto...
