Wow...
I have got to be like, the luckiest dude to ever portablize an N64.
I was gone for 4 days, and in that time period, my dog got a hold of my N64 MOBO and chewed the crap out of the thing.
AND IT STILL WORKS!!!! What the heck?!?!

I'd think SMD LEDs but for a front light 3mm might work... I'd say what you said, directly to the power supply with a seperate switch, that'd work.
