I thought the expansion bay was a dead giveaway. :Psamjc3 wrote:the thin model is slightly smaller than a vhs case. you would know if you had one. :wink:Shakespeare wrote:Phat, I believe. It's got the expansion bay, so I'd assume it's not the thin model. Probably not good for portables.

4. It's a circuit card assembly. I need to know how people mount their boards in the case. I don't want to glue these things. I'd prefer to screw them in place, but what could I screw them to? I'm an electrical engineer, so when it comes to mechanics, I'm at a bit of a loss. I don't want to use glu...

May be trading/selling/buying
There are several reasons why you shouldn't even glance at this thread, the first (and most obvious) being my post count and how recently I joined. I'd be suspicious too, put in anyone else's position. Another reason is that I'm not even completely sure I'll be trading the items I'm listing or not, ...

Dang, that thing looks amazing. As much as I'd like to buy it, I wouldn't do it justice by putting it on my dusty old TV stand.

No, that's a horrible idea. Everything sucks when it's put in the microwave. A toaster oven is a much better alternative, and I prefer it.timmeh87 wrote:Yeah, try microwaving it.

Re: Hooboy. List time.
I hate to be a downer, but why use the N64? The awesome bright colors are what makes the games great! :( Besides, an N64 portable requires a lot of guts, less room/weight for steampunk stuff. Have you considered an Atari 2600 or an NES? I think it would fit the feel a heck of a lot better. ;) As fo...

Re: Hooboy. List time.
To get sepia, I think you could do this: Use a screen with S-Video in. If you don't connect one of the pins, the picture will be in black and white. Turn down the contrast; turn up the brightness. Then, use a sepia-colored plastic filter over the screen (not sure where you can get one, though). Sho...

Re: Hooboy. List time.
Nice idea! I would use wood for the case, or maybe laminate over plastic. Take it easy on the brass. It'll make it heavy. And don't use brass buttons, they'll be impossible to tell apart and make your fingers smell funny. Anodized aluminum FTW. In any case, awesome idea, I want to see it finished! ...

Re: Hooboy. List time.
I think that it would look cool, but actual gears and piping and brass would be kinda heavy. Wood would(no pun intended) be okay, if your really interested in using that for a case look up the memeber Rekarp, he can tell you all about it. I'm pretty sure that you can't change the opening logo for t...

Re: Cart slot as tight as a twelve-year-old's toes:
If I'm getting this right, the cartridge slot is too small, and that's why you're having trouble.
If so, just use some well-aimed heat in order to make the plastic a little more pliable, then insert a cartridge. I say well-aimed because you'd run the risk of messing with your electronics.

Hooboy. List time.
This will be my first portable console project, and yes, I understand that the N64 is one of the harder ones to make portable. I'm determined, though, to play Zelda: OOT and MM wherever I please. To add to the difficulty, I want to make its case Steampunk-ish. This means I'd be incorporating polishe...
