Re: Guide - How to remove nintendo screws

Nice explanatory vid. Used a similar tactic to remove the 4 screws from a Gamecube I snagged cheap. Once the pen is all hot and melty, you really need to jam it in there hard, and let it sit for a bit to cool. Works well, but know this: you need to push down hard the first time you turn it or you wi...

Re: Console VS PC Gaming (Split-off from "Come and Rant Here")

Let's not forget another important distinction: consoles don't get viruses (other than Yaris for XBLA ) Also, it's not too difficult to send the video to your TV from your PC, if that's what you want. Either your TV has PC inputs or your PC has s-video or composite out, and you're set. If you'r...

Re: Console VS PC Gaming (Split-off from "Come and Rant Here")

Also, how, exactly, is a keyboard and mouse a superior control scheme to a dual-analog gamepad? Sure the aiming's more accurate, but movement isn't, not by a long shot. If you press "W," you flat-out run; let go, you stop dead. With analog sticks, you can tiptoe, walk, or run, all at your convenien...

Re: *Gasp!*

Fantastic concepts and application! I'm really looking forward to seeing this completed.

The idea of multiplayer over Cat-5 is mind-boggling. That could be implemented even in non-portables.

Re: Come rant here! :D

I absolutely hate the insipid credit report commercials that keep showing. BTW, it's a (legal) scam - it's initially free, but then they charge you monthly. Also, the HeadOn commercials suck too, even if they are very effective. And I never want to hear the words, "bailout," "stimulus," or "deficit"...

Re: A totally insane idea that just may work...

This discussion involves doing something that is not just tough, not just complex, but something stupidly difficult. It's like trying to make a screen without composite work for a portable. Technically, it can be done, but no one does it because it is both impractical and extremely difficult. It mig...

Re: what's the dumbest thing a non-hacker has said to you?

I've got another from my Wal-Mart days: Me: "Usually you can find that kind of information on the internet." (don't remember what) Older lady: "Oh, I don't have the internet. I don't even have a computer." Me: "Oh, ok..." Older lady, interrupting: " I don't want to get any of those diseases I've hea...

Re: Happy Valentines Day Everyone!

Just stumbled onto this thread now... Am I the only one who did anything today with a female I'm not related to :? I did. She very much liked her matching necklace and ring. Then we went out to eat (at about 4:30 PM to avoid the rush). Then we went and saw a movie (before you ask, it was Tale of Des...

All these years later, the phrase "chip smashers" make me grin.

I move that Chip Smashers be either minions or a level boss in Palmertech's game "Project LASER."

Hey, that's pretty cool. I think I saw it profiled on engadget when it first came out, but that was a while back.

Let us all know if it's any good, huh?

From when I worked at Wal-Mart: 'Where are your mousepads?' 'They're right over here - we have pads with dogs, cats, and this tropical one...' 'Which will be compatible with my mouse? LOL! Not a completely stupid question. Surfaces without enough texture will make optical mice lose track all the ti...

Re: Motherboard dividing?

What you do is you need a sacrificial board first. You remove the lacquer top and bottom by either sanding it off or acetone. Then slowly sand of the top traces till you get to the next layer. Make note of the traces and keep going. I had to do this a couple times before >_> So, difficult but do-ab...
