Re: nds flash cart

Hopefully this thread isn't too long dead.. I have been thinking about picking up a card for my DS Lite for a while now. Never got around to it until someone posted that you could pick it up for $5.00 First question - Deal Extreme says that they do not charge extra for international shipping... is t...

Re: SMS sound problem

boy, I'm not sure about sound on the SMS.... if it is a dead cap the first thing to check is if it peaked. The top of each cap should be flat and not bulging. If it looks like a stove top jiffy popcorn package about 20 seconds before she bursts then it is a dead cap. aside from that i suppose you co...

Re: The Dreaded RRoD...

The X-clamp isn't the only solution, depending upon which version of the box you have. Some also have additional options that can fix this issue. 1. the 8 - 12 penny fix, mounts some pennies on the ram to provide downward pressure and re-connect with the solder. 2. shaving the risers - earlier xbox ...

Re: lots of xbox questions

I would suggest using the laptop IDE drive and no DVD drive unless you absolutely want to play DVDs on it. A decent sized drive can get most games stored on it. You can softmod your xbox without having to solder anything. It takes about an hour to hotswap softmod your xbox. Elsewhere in the forums (...

Just because it is relevant and I love bringing old threads back from the dead -

http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php ... 4&start=15" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

covers how to run your xbox without a DVD drive, without a modchip/TSOP flash.

Re: xBook worklog [WITH PICS]

Thanks for the props! in re: the power sucking behemoth of the xbox, I think yours might be sucking up a little less power because it is missing a fan or two and has a smaller HDD (2.5in instead of 3.5). This drops power requirements by about 5w on average (according to Tom hardware). Don't know if ...

Re: xBook worklog [WITH PICS]

Looks good, but I want to make a suggestion. Presuming that this is a top down look with your DVD being in the "front" of the xbox, you might want to consider rotating and swapping where your PSU and MOBO are. Benefits: 1. Your video and LAN port will be rear facing. This makes for shorter connectio...

Re: Xbox- Thermal Wattage

I don't have the data off hand, but if you are recasing then I will give the same recommendation as you will get from a lot of other people - water cooling. Use a 200w picoPSU and one of these http://shop.sickmods.net/product/ATX_to_Xbox_Converter_2/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to...

Re: xbox fan problems

I'm not really sure what you could have done to wreck the fan connector. Oh and FYI, most people carve up the HDD tray and put in a bigger fan (trimmed corners) and put it at a lower speed to make it quieter. A smaller fan = less cooling + bigger noise. If the connector is dead without a doubt, just...

Re: how could i fix?

Presumably, the wire was cut mid way, so you have half on one board, half on the other. seperate each wire individually, strip each one carefully, and solder back together. Alternatively, take apart a few old CD rom drives and you will likely find ribbon cable that is the same size (presuming that i...
