when the regulator "drops out" it just stops regulating power. you'll still get power to everything, it just wont be regulated.

5 1/2" long, 3 1/2" wide, and the thickness goes from about an inch near the screen to about 1/8" between the controls and the battery holder. but if you cut out the cartridge slot and the battery holder and replaced it with a flat piece of plastic you could get about 1 1/4" clearance inside the case.

that stuff is a lot stronger than regular bondo. but its not fun sanding it by hand. you'd be better off sanding it with a DA sander or somthing like that

a small scratch on the board shouldnt hurt anything, unless its a deep cut that broke a circuit trace or something. but you said it was just a microscopic nic, so you shouldnt have any problems.

here are a couple links for good sources for fiberglass mat, carbon fiber, resins, silicone molding rubber, and all kinds of other stuff. the first place i buy from all the time, they have pretty good prices. the second place, i have never bought anything from and their prices are a good bit higher ...
