Yeah Alex has the keyboard, I'm sure he's planning on bringing it along. The keyboard is...interesting. You'll have to try it.

Re: Metallica Man's Comission Projekt!

I always try to make the wires as short a possible, but the poof always happens anyway. It's usually just the positioning of the wires that does it, or something totally random that isn't wire-related. I have a feeling it's the random that's making this case poof, as most of the wires are stuck dee...

Re: WTB vaccum forming table

IIRC the easiest way to build your own vacuum-forming table is by using a Shop Vac (or a similar brand depending on your local hardware store). Here's one such tutorial: http://www.studiocreations.com/howto/vacuumtable/table.html If you want to buy one pre-made, your location (can be approximate, no...

Someone taking credit for my work.

If you make any in the future, figure out a nice-looking way of engraving something like "Built by darkuncle33" into the plastic.

Re: Converted an old Tri-Sports arcade machine to a MAME cabinet

I'm actually in Salem, about 20 minutes west of Kenosha. I'm coming to MGC this year, but wasn't thinking about bringing it. But if you guys got the space, maybe I will! Last year there was a whole separate room for arcade cabinets. Though since this one is DIY (rather than restored), I'm not sure ...

Re: Converted an old Tri-Sports arcade machine to a MAME cabinet

Nicely done! I see you're in Milwaukee. You should bring this to the Midwest Gaming Classic in Brookfield in March and join a large number of us Benheckers there! (well, assuming you can get a buddy to help you carry it, I assume it's heavy  )

Re: AA battery pack for backup camera issues

Are the 2 AA's that were completely drained different in some way? Different brand, older/newer, used more/less, etc? Typically that will happen if those two cells are older/used more. Then, those batteries get discharged more quickly. Because you're using them in series, the "chain is only as stron...

Re: SNES Rev 2 Wiring Diagram

If it's a Li-Ion 7.4v battery, you should add the protection circuit for the battery.

Other than that, looks pretty good to me. Nice first post, and welcome to the Benheck forums! We hope you enjoy your stay.

Re: Spambots

Using low-paid workers instead of bots explains why so many of the spam posts are getting closer to http://xkcd.com/810/.

I'll keep that in mind if I happen to come across any more spam-prevention methods.

Spambots

There seem to be a lot of spambots lately. I use the report button to report all spambots I see, but I'm curious if there's possibly a better way of preventing bots from creating accounts in the first place. The current spambot prevention mechanism uses (as I counted) 11 different questions which ar...

Re: Metallica Man's Comission Projekt!

Neat idea with the nail pushing the switch that disconnects the ground of the onboard controller. As long as you don't get any stray signals from the onboard controller, that's a great (and simple) solution.

Re: LMFAO Robot Head

Question, i just read online that if you supply an led the exact voltage you don't need a resistor. Would it be possible to wire 6 3v leds in series (I think its series, might be the other) onto a two AA battery pack without a resistor? That may or may not work. i just need to power 2 3v leds and i...
