Re: Make a USB Powered 3 pin fan?
Is the wire surrounded by something? If it is, the wire is +V, and the surrounding stuff is Ground (-V) and you can connect it as such.

Re: My first portable
Took thejumper pack out, hooked it to a CRT, and got the white flash - no green screen. Left it on for a minute, and the most centered CPU heated up quite a bit. I think it's fried... Cheap sources for another n64?

Re: My first portable
And that's what will happen if the board IS fried, or if it ISN'T fried? I'm going to try reseating the RAM soon, I'll post results here.

I need to know exactly what happens, not what you think happens.

Re: My first portable
ANY WAY...
If somebody would be willing to do a test for me, that'd be great - I need to know what happens when you plug an unmodified n64 into a screen, and turn on the n64 (the screen should already be on) without a cartridge in it. Does the screen flash white, or does something else happen?

I understand that smilies are fun and all, but really?
Mobo was pretty old - had 2 ram chips, I don't care enough to find out exactly what rev it was.

Re: My first portable
Parts got here, I started assembly - Put the header in, connected the IDC cable, connected it to the cart slot, hooked up the screen, hooked up the video, held my breath and turned on the power.... nothing. I went and tested it with my screen downstairs, and it would give me a little white flash, th...

Re: My first portable
Does anybody have a really great source for Cannon BP-511 batteries? It's what i bought for my project, but from what I understand, it'll only keep it going for a couple of hours, and I want to add some more power. The ebay seller I got them for, however, stopped listing them, and I'm looking for th...

Re: idea for adding bots to a non-bot n64 game....
It would be cool, but programming a bot to control a controller to be good at just ONE game would be difficult.
All of them? Nigh impossible.

Re: My first portable
Screen and battery charger hit here today, but I still need to redo the cartridge relocation. I've cleaned off the cart slot thing and the solder terminals, I'm just waiting for the IDE cable and the header to ship now.

Re: My first portable
Alright, poked around with a multimeter - not gunna work. I'm going to need to buy a different controller - superpad works? (Not superpad plus, just superpad) And what joystick would everybody recommend? I kinda like the ps1/ps2 ones, but if there's one that works better... I could use the 'click' o...
