Well, a new person may not understand the reasoning someone like Cennar is exempt from some of the rules. Probably because a few of us were "grandfathered in" about two years ago from the old forums, or came in within the first few months after(like Cennar), and perhaps he developed this part of his...

It's just that if I can do things serially, I can connect 12 devices to the parallel port in this manner. Also, it has been stated by someone who has done something very similar (the article I got the idea from) that this method isn't very well suited for serial ports software-wise, at least not usi...

Parallel Port Appliance Control

I am considering using QBasic (maybe Visual basic with a special DLL file later, if it works with VB.NET) to control electrical appliances to my computer. http://www.aaroncake.net/circuits/crombuld.htm Turning dials and controlling on/off switches should be easy enough, as I have a partial grasp as ...

Ships from the Roman Empire are still being found, aren't they? Though not the same era, or in perfect shape, it shows a ship can live a couple thousand years, at least...

My "work area" actually spans a living-room size area in my basement as well as part of my bedroom. This is an old picture of half of my work desk, centered on my computer. Yes, that is Ranma 1/2 playing on my computer, and yes, those are open and as of yet uneaten Oatmeal Cream pies (Well...I nibbl...

Since they seem to be wired in parallel, and there are 10 of them, that'd give you 7.2V at 42000mAh, or 42Ah. I'd be careful with that much power, if this isn't a joke problem. You may get current burn if you screw up while messing with that much power, and should you actually have a use for somethi...

Oddesy portable wouldn't be prudent, as dice and overlays are used. It isn't a game SYSTEM, it's more of a game SUPPLEMENT in my opinion...making a portable when you need overlays and dice isn't seem necessary or very wise...unless you're going for the novelty factor, which would be interesting.

Well, I'm not sure what happened there...the best advice I can give you is when something similar happened when I wired an SNES controller internal..."If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Yes. The small chip is the "key" chip used to confirm to the lockout chip that the console works. The other two chips are the CHR ROM and PRG ROM, which contain the game data. Before going to the trouble of prying this game chip off of the cartridge, there is a way to test if the lockout chip is dea...

I actually have a one handed PS1 controller here at home, I just don't use it.

A One-handed NES controller also exists, designed for RPG players who have to draw maps and stuff..

Messing with an MS-Mouse

I've been entertaining the idea of trying to make an NES controller into a PS/2 mouse, so I took apart an old Mouse Port MS Mouse, 2.1a, and started messing around. I had the intention of trying to find which leads to short on the IR sensors (or even the IR leds) to get up, down, left, and right, an...
