Re: Rise from your grave.
Hey gang. Was reading this and missing pretty much the entire scene from back in the day. I remember daily spending an hour or two going through BH forums and XS forums to go over all of the happenings. Recently I got into re-capping GameGear consoles that suffer from Black Screen/No Audio. Few thin...

Re: XBOX case mod
well, I gutted the PS3 and am a little concerned about the size factor. The PS3 "seems" to be about the right size, but there are some significant reduction in size with the shaping of the front end of the beast. At this point I am not sure whether it would be wise to look into mounting everything o...

Re: XBOX case mod
yeah in re: the slot loader I was thinking that there are a couple of ways to go about doing it. Probably the easiest way would be to track down an iMac or other front loader DVD drive, pray that it is IDE, and then find the magic signals and tag TR_IN, TR_OUT, D_RDY, and EJECT and wire them along w...

XBOX case mod
I recently was given a dead PS3, four port USB. I pulled the only two things worth anything out of it (hard drive and laser) and was about to trash the whole thing when a crazy idea came into my head. I wonder if I could fit an original xbox into the PS3 Phat case? I have checked the measurements an...

Yeah it popped back up recently but their forums are still down. Their news forums link to a different site altogether. Also Google wasn't popping them on search

Re: PS3 hard drive question
if it is smaller than a 3.5 and larger than a 2.5, then it is a 2.5 manufacturers keep to a certain standard for sizing. If less than 98% of all hard drives produced in the last year were not of those two sizes, I would be greatly surprised. The only other size that is kind of in use in bigger numbe...

Re: PS3 hard drive question
"I got a seagate backup plus portable drive (1TB)" For one, I would assume that this would be SATA right off the get go. I cannot think of any portable hard drive that size that would use IDE as a connector. He also indicated that he checked and saw that it was the same size. Seagate does sell them ...

Re: PS3 hard drive question
ugh I hate it when people don't understand questions but feel free to answer them incorrectly. presuming that your portable drive is a 2.5 inch SATA hard drive, it should work the same as any other drive. I believe that the PS3 has some sort of feature that nukes any hard drive connected to it and s...

Re: GARAGESALES 2011!
No one has posted here in a while, so I thought I better throw something down. Picked up a PS3 with a dead Blu-ray drive for $50. Figured it wouldn't be too hard to get a Blu-ray from another dead one. So far haven't found it, but whoever sold it to me left a signed in Netflix that they haven't used...

PS3 Controller issues.
Was given a couple of "dead" Ps3 controllers. I'm going to be heat gunning a donated PS3 sometime in the next couple of weeks, so I figured I would need a controller or two. The first I got was a Dual Shock 3, and I was told by the play/trade store I got it from that they had tested it, everything r...

Re: 3PS60 Controller, Wired 360 controller in PS3 shell
Even if only wired, that is a thing of beauty RDC. I figured it wouldnt be too long after the holidays before this showed up. I took apart my first DS3 and SIXAXIS controllers last night. Everything you ever said about what a PITA they are is completely true. I've never come across something designe...

Re: RRoD fix
The box doesn't have any concerns clamps at all and I was thinking of putting them back on from a donor box. To my knowledge the box doesn't detect heat from the clamps, but from the chips themselves. I'm guessing your new clamps fixed it because it made better contact.
