Re: The dangly part on the retro duo board
I don't have a retro duo but I'm fairly certain of the purpose of the dangly bit. If you can post some pictures of both sides of the boards I should be able to tell you what to do. What will most likely be the case is that you connect a switch from a couple of traces which are now running to the pow...

Re: Arduino-based SNES controller?
The SNES controller is just 2 shift registers connected. You can simply connect the inputs to your Arduino as you normally would and then simply emulate the function of a shift register. Turns out that there's even something that would simplify the task greatly. http://www.arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/Shi...

Shockslayer has his own site? I had no idea. How time flies.
I know you're nowhere near them but have you had the chance to visit some of the huge electronics markets?

Re: N64 controller joystick encoding
The joystick output is represented as 2s complement which does range from -128 to 127. However the actual range of any N64 joystick is much less. Using a range of -80 to 80 seems to be the best fit to a number of controllers. It's not an artifact of bad joysticks, game's are programmed to expect inp...

Re: Nintendo 64 Schematic
If I remember correctly its a quadruple tristate buffer for the controller ports. Don't take that as gospel though because google suggests its a 4 way multiplexer. :p

Re: Sega CDX Actual Output Voltage Amperage Output
Yeah, the reason the newer adaptor isn't changing voltage too much under different loads is likely because its switchmode. Anyway, should be good.

Re: SNES Nonvolatile SRAM board
Its possible that you could have killed your chips when you had them in reverse. Other than that I can't see any problems other than there possibly being a problem on the Chip enable lines. If you have a logic analyser or a scope then connect those up and you'll be able to see what's up.

I'd say they're comparable in difficulty. The replacement sticks which were linked to can be quite good. As TSX420J said try to get a gamecube style one.

Re: Sega CDX Actual Output Voltage Amperage Output
Apparently not many people on these forums know much about the Sega CDX :P In any case, in general many of these older regulators won't be switchmode and as such won't be regulated as you might be used to with modern adaptors. With that in mind its important to measure the voltage and current draw w...
