I have video only it's garbled, but I've really cleaned all the connectors (and the cart plays normally on an unmodified NES)
Thanks for the tip though. I'll look into that

Anyone have a good front/back picture of the NESp left board
I think I've located the short/or wrong connection on the left board (b,a, select, start buttons one). It looks like I have everything matching the book though so I'm wondering if anyone out there with a working NESp like the book can send me a picture (front & back) of that piece. The book I have h...

Yeah sorry about the extra post thing. I just kept thinking of other information that I thought may be helpful in helping me out. As far as grounding everything seems to be grounded (by grounding I mean there are wires with solder points that appear to be good). By AV you mean the Left board right? ...

Interesting Note: I was once again retesting everything with the meter when i accidentally touched the aluminum side and to my surprise the sound started playing. The picture seemed farther along in that you could actually see it. Still messed up and all though. the was on the left board rear side w...

Well I double checked everything and I can't find any problems. I followed every troubleshooting idea in the book. My screen powers on, the multimeter shows the proper voltage at all points. I can see the brightness and volume bars as I adjust them. Most games show white/grey blinking. I recleaned t...

NESp troubleshooting help needed
I am building the hand built NES from Ben's book. I am to the part where you finally get to test everything for the first time. First I had no vol, brightness. Reconnected cable and wala they show. Now I can see something - what looks like a bunch of the screen all smoshed together, other games show...

Thanks for the tip I will look into it. As for the clear layer on my PSOne Screen, it's a shiny clear coating that seems to keep the soldering/desoldering iron from heating up the solder. I had the same problem with the piece at the top (the one that get's thrown away), so I sniped the leads off (no...

Getting Solder to stick - AKA dumb clear coat problems
I am trying to make the screen modifications as per Ben's book. The problem I'm having is that I cannot get any solder to stick to anything. It appears there is a clear coating of something all over the PSOne (I bought it brand new out of the box). I tried scraping it off with an exacto knife, but n...
