He means to check that ground is connected to ground and that signal is connected to signal. Also check that you have a good connection on the ground.

Re: Xbox controller -> USB
you can splice a usb cable to an xbox cable, I recommend doing this in the breakaway section so it can still be used as a normal xbox controller if you want.
after you sucessfully build this (it takes under half an hour) then you will need to install XBCD. Just google it, you will find what you need.

Re: A couple of questions
If you are using the standard AV cable that plugs in the antenna port on the back of your TV, it's going to look fuzzy on newer screens.
The Genesis Power supply is rated for *digs around* 10v, 850 mA
I think using the PS2 power supply has been discussed here before though.

Sharpen the edges, make throwing disc, see what you can get them to embed themselves in, then call it embedded storage in a *object* and sell it on ebay as a novelty item to make people laugh.

Re: The Afternoon projects thread.
I put tact switches on the back of one of my xbox controllers the other day that operate as thumbstick clicks. Now I can crouch AND move in Halo. . . I also put the jewel from an xbox over the Dell Logo from my laptop so I can go to Starbucks, hook up my xbox controller and start playing HaloPC to m...

Wow, at first glance, I thought this was photoshopped, very nice job. That picture would have been so much cooler though if you were actually playing Mario Bros. or Duck Hunt though. . .

Re: xbox controller info needed
If you don't plan to be able to use the xbox controller for an xbox anymore and have a spare N64 controller, I imagine you could use the logic of the nintendo controller inside the xbox shell, but it would be a bit harder to customize your controls that way. If you want a software based solution tho...

Re: PSP laptop
I think it would actually be better to extend the controls into the bottom and leave the screen, motherboard, and drive on top. If you think about it, you aren't actually going to be depending on this thing to stand up on it's own to often, and if you do, adding a stand wouldn't be to hard. You woul...

Re: Has anyone got the portable system to run on a battery yet?
When I first saw that, I said, "It may not be a car battery, but it's just as big." Then, I looked at the price, gagged, and LOLed. I think the aformentioned large quantities of LiPoly batteries might be a cheaper option, although you would need to build your own controller. For example you could, p...

Man, that is horrid luck, I can't even see how that would go about happening. Even so, you got an awesome picture of the aftermath right there. It's actually pretty cool despite the horror it presents.

I made a fedora. . . out of duct tape, took me 4 hours last weekend. Anyways. . . I also took a picture with my webcam and made it look all special like. http://img44.imageshack.us/img44/7976/mei.png also, that's a great job arranging the pokemon theme. I'm not a big fan of pokemon, but that was qui...
