That's pretty much exactly what I had in mind. It looks like yours sticks out a little further than the original connector. A mass-produced version wouldn't need to. Also, there would need to be a couple of little pegs to insert inside the springs on the cartridge caddy to keep people from trying to...

New 72-pin connector design
I have an idea for a design for a 72-pin connector similar to those you can find on eBay and Nintendo Repair Shop amongst other places, but it would improve reliability and can be installed in any model one gray toaster style NES. However, I don't have connections to anyone who can manufacture or pr...

'Super' Nintendo floppy cart connector question
So, I've been looking at Ben's 'Super' Nintendo page for longer than I'm going to admit and I just can't figure out that cartridge slot. I'm guessing it's made from both ends of a floppy ribbon cable. Please correct me if I'm wrong. So, obviously these connectors need to be modded to allow the edge ...

Just so you know, I decided to go with this item from mouser. It's 10 ft. and has 88 conductors. Looks solid to me. I think it may also be the same cable as I found inside a Chinese famiclone I cracked open recently.

Let me explain a little. First off, Kurt, I'm not going to be using it in one straight shot. My god, what would I be thinking of connecting ten feet away with ribbon cable? I want that amount because I have multiple jobs do to and I'm still a bit n00bish so I'm kinda prone to screw-ups. So far, I've...

ribbon cable/flat cable for cheap?
Does anyone know where I can get a good length of flat cable for cheap? I'd need it to be at least 10 ft. and have at least 36 conductors unshielded. I figure no more than 50 conductors and no more than 25 ft. to keep it cheap. Any ideas?

screen sizes
Hi. I'm doing my first portable work and I'm attempting a portable NOAC. My problem is finding the right size screen. I was originally going to try to stick it in a game boy case, but all the screens I could find were smaller than the gameboy screen, so that wouldn't look very nice. Also, could you ...

I'm totally on the same page as you are, Dr. Jay. I am always so hesitant to carve up any legacy hardware. I don't care if it is E.T. for the 2600 or Superman for N64. It still hurts me a little deep inside to destroy any of this stuff. I wouldn't feel so bad if this stuff was still being produced. ...

I think I'll just rip apart a couple of game genies to do the mod. Does anyone have some pictures or diagrams of the innards of a game genie I could look at? I'm thinking of playing around with making a toggle-able internal game genie. After all, I am ripping up game genies here. Speaking of game-al...
