Re: NES stereo mod + amplification?
Alrighty, it appears as though I've got something working on breadboard. Kinda sorta, a little too early to tell. Using the 74HCU04P chip off a dead NES board, a couple resistors and capacitors. Looks like I'll be able to amplify each of the channels now. I'll be working on something a little more c...

Re: NES stereo mod + amplification?
Okay! So, I think I'm beginning to figure something out. With the NES board running, I pulled one of the "pre-mixed" channels off the cpu and piped it into the hex inverter dealy on a SECOND nes board (something else on it is already fried, just using it for parts mainly), hooked up the +5v line and...

NES stereo mod + amplification?
Greetings. I'm in the middle of working on an NES project and wanted to add that "stereo" mod to it. (You know, where you isolate the two channels coming off the CPU, mix in a little of the mono signal with a couple POTs, yadda yadda. It's all over the internet and even somewhere on these forums I t...

Re: Adhesives, adhesives, adhesives.
Did you use the blue or red loctite? Nope. I actually have a story about that though, pro-Loctite. I'll explain. I used to work for a print shop and ran a Heidelberg GTO-52 litho press. This thing spins, slides, moves and bangs around several hours a day and gets pretty warm. At one point, a certai...

Re: Adhesives, adhesives, adhesives.
This is a great idea. I'm just getting into this stuff. However, have used a bit of adhesive. I did use that stuff you used at the end of the list. It sucks. Oh thank God I'm not the only one. Seriously, that "Plastix Bonder" crap is so horrible I'm tempted to do a VIDEO REVIEW of it. I pulle...

Adhesives, adhesives, adhesives.
Greetings, BenHeck dot commers! I'm writing with a pretty simple question I suppose, and some of my own personal input. It is, as you might have gathered from the thread title, about various types of adhesives. For years I've been pretty much exclusively been using Devcon products and have been extr...

Re: Hey Death! Consider yourself cheated.
Holy crap! I'm glad as hell your safe as well as everybody else. If you were dead, I would not get to ask you the following question: Did you model your s2nes controller adapter after mine, or did we both have the same idea and name? I originally built that ugly thing back around 2000 or so. Got th...

Noted. Thank you.
PS: You and Ben are to blame for getting me interested in modding many many years ago. Good to see you're still around!

Hey Death! Consider yourself cheated.
I'm a couple days late with this. However, after looking at the pictures and seeing the video, I'm sure you'll understand. ;) So yes! My girlfriend and I had a very memorable Memorial Day. http://www.stupidfingers.com/linked/052509_1.jpeg http://www.stupidfingers.com/linked/052509_2.jpeg http://www....

Still waiting for some kind of official announcement from George. Will this work: http://forums.3drealms.com/vb/showthread.php?p=867590#post867590" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Nuh, already saw that. Need to know what transpired, what it means for DNF, et cetera. Gotta hear it from...

Re: Duke Nuken Forever is officially dead, along with its maker.
Still waiting for some kind of official announcement from George. This is sad. Incredibly sad. I need closure. It's weird. It feels like a huge chunk of what I considered "gaming" just shriveled up, fell off and died. Yet at the same time, I never exactly had my hands on it at any point to begin wit...

Re: NEW 72-pin connectors (sharing info)
If I can just put in my .02 cents, why don't you just buy those Family Converters? I believe Play-Asia has a bunch in stock. I just hacksaw the part with the 72 pin connector off, and then voila, giant pins for you to directly solder to (and on a thick circuit board, no less), and it has the screwp...

Re: NEW 72-pin connectors (sharing info)
*** UPDATE *** Upon further inspection I've noticed that the pin spacing is a little off. Not by much, and it should still work fine it most cases, but it IS a little off. The pitch between the pins on this connector is .1" (2.54mm) and I believe the NES used some stupid non-standard pitch like 2.5m...

Re: Nes games and alcohol?
I've never had an issue with rubbing alcohol.
And get this... the official NES cleaning kits came with a little bottle of something called isopropanol, which as far as I can tell, is 99%-ish alcohol. You should be fine.
