Re: simple JAMMA to VGA/component?? (Delayed. But almost done!)
If want the cheapest option, a surprisingly large number of newer LCD monitors can actually sync to 15kHz horizontal (what the Neo Geo and many other arcade boards output). Even monitors that don't list themselves as being capable of syncing that low in their manuals can sync to it(like my Dell S220...

Re: One-handed controller for MMORPG
Something like the Razer Nostromo Expert Command Control Gaming Keypad sound like it might work. There's actually a fair number of one handed controllers designed for First Person Shooters on the PC that should work, pending they don't require a program running to map them (MMOs usually lock out suc...

GP2X games on Pandora and other platforms wrapper?
I recall seeing that a wrapper for GP2X games to let you play them on Pandora and (my main interest) other Linux Arm platforms was made for a coding competition, but I've lost track of it and forgot the name even. Anyone know if it was released to the world at large, either binary or sourcecode? If ...

Re: Wii questions, voltage and VGA...
You need a transcoder to output VGA from the Wii, but the good news is that you can get a Wii/PS3 VGA cable that has it built in for pretty cheap on eBay.

Re: Be a pal, help me solve my dvd player problem
Your post is broken in many ways. Did you check the disc for smudges and scratches? I've seen some pretty odd looking video, and sometimes full-on lock-ups, being caused by thick fingerprints being on the bottom.

Re: Apple IIc mod - need opinions
You could mount new parts to some proto-board that are the same size/shape as the old ones. I've seen this on a few modern computer in old computer mods.

Probably. How is a thread that was posted several months ago 'perfect timing'?Mr. Bastey wrote:This thread is perfect timing for me to ask a stupid question I've powered a Yobo NES at a 6v minimum, but used a 9v adapter as well. I'm guessing a 12v power supply would fry it?

Re: Voltage, USB, and an Android phone
You need a fair number of those low-end solar cells in parallel to get enough amps to power a phone. Not knowing the specifics of that phone, I'd go with 6 volts or more and then using a high-efficiency regulator to give more steady 5 volts. For the odd-ball solar cells with extra wires, my guess wo...

Re: nes zapper gun
Due to it's simplistic nature (just detects light of a square to register a hit), it might be able to work on newer TVs if you turn the brightness up and the TV has a good response time (<5ms) and minimal processing (put TV in 'game' mode). Not played with a Zapper on newer TVs, though.

Re: Project PSIO
Not to also mention that Sony's CD-ROM's are warping, clouding and becoming exceptionally rare to find, own and buy. Err, all the discs I have are still doing fine, even US launch titles. The only issues I have are scratches on used discs, and nothing as bad as used original XBox games sometimes ge...

Look in the 1980's sub-forum, this is very likely a NOAC, and if not, the same principles apply.

There's a large gear that opens/closes the tray and raises/lowers the laser mechanism. Pull the tray out past where it normally comes out and re-align the gap in the gear to where it's on the edge of the tray and push the tray back in. You'll probably have to play with a bit to figure it out, it's h...

Re: Garbage on screen
I see you're using some sort of translator, so I'm thinking that 'characters' is not the word you meant. It seems likely that you just meant a scrambled screen, which is likely caused by the values of the capacitors not being exact. LCD screens require higher precision for what they receive in input...

Re: Garbage on screen
Strange characters are a problem with the console most likely, probably either a voltage issue or the cart and slot needs cleaned.
