Here are my predictions: PS3 will end up beating Xbox 360 because of A. Xbox360's name (it really makes no sense, and consumers will notice that) and B. the PS3 is more powerful. Combine this with the games for PS3 and you have an answer. I believe the only reason Xbox was up with PS2 was because it...

I think I'm finally starting to understand Nintendo's strategy... this device is perfect for portable gaming, it's so small you can literally take it out of your pocket and play, fairly inconspicuously. The SP is small but I think the problem is that you see lots of little kids running around w/ SPs...

Hey GameIver, regarding your post on that news link, you have to remember that it has been almost 4 years since the GC was released so a portabilization by Nintendo is not a far stretch. Sega made the Nomad, and Sony the PSP so it is possible to develop the technology to reduce the size of electroni...

Video games are either truly unique or derivative. As the years pass, there are more and more derivative and less and less unique. That's not necessarily bad; all of the mario games are derived from SMB1, down to the "go through levels, save the princess". But there are SO MANY derivatives nowadays,...

Believe me, 5" is plenty big enough, as is 4". GBA is only 2.5" or so and that's fine for most games. A sprite would be 16pixels/256pixels per line * 4" = 0.25", which is not all that small. I'll take a picture with my SNESp sometime to show something like Final Fantasy 4, once I get more of it built.

I went to Radioshack this weekend to pick up SNESp parts... and had to go to another afterwards b/c they only had two 220uF capacitors in stock. Yeesh. BTW, my dad used to work there when he was in college and he has never had anything good to say about the place (especially their low wages). So I g...

Tactile switches
Hey all, I was going to order some tactile switches from Digikey and I found out there is a lead time of 1 month :( Is there anywhere else to get these, am I doing something wrong on Digikey that is prompting the lead time, or should I just suck it up? Digikey tact switch part #: EG2495-ND (I was go...

The hard part is that there are so many connections to the cartridge slot and that soldering wires to the small spots is difficult. I have a version 1 and the cartridge slot actually is removable so I think I'm going to try to move the slot by soldering wires between it and the connector on the boar...

You might want to consider bumping up the graphics card as well if you want to play anything like Unreal Tournament 2003. I know, I had a 7500 for a couple years. Check out: http://labs.anandtech.com/search.php?q=radeon+9200 . Here it says that you can get a Radeon 9200SE 128MB for $45 shipped. 9200...
