Re: My first portable - any help appreciated!
yeah you can do that. Just make sure if you do it that way that you put the 7808 after your power switch or else the screen will be on all the time. You need the Pico Psu though to power the dreamcast. Because it takes a voltage that can be given by a battery and converts it to the 12v, 5v, and 3.3v...

Re: My first project...(DCp)
Looks as if you have a revision 2 board. I got lucky and ended up having one for my DCP as well. Its nice since you don't have the GD-Rom board to relocate and mess with.

Re: My first portable - any help appreciated!
cocoahoopz is right. The Pico Psu takes 12v in and outputs the correct voltages where as the original PSU takes 120VAC. Read up in Family Guys DCP build/Pico Psu discovery thread and everything you need to know to get your Power supply working is in there. There are also a few variable input Pico PS...

Re: How hard is it to make a portable Dreamcast? TOTAL NOOB
The first portable I did was a Dreamcast so it is definitely do-able. Just make sure you do your homework! Study everyone's WIP post, Family guys especially to figure out how to use the Pico Psu. You use a Quantum fighter pad for your controller because all of the controls are on their own boards. B...

I can solve a Rubik's cube in 30 seconds 8) Same here. Fastest time was 32 seconds. I like sudoku but suck terribly at it. I'm into airsoft. Haven't played for a while but used to play pretty hardcore in high school. I also like taking things apart and never putting them back together again

If you do end up trying that... I would just make one suggestion. Make a high res scan of the board before you do it, that way when your trying to figure out which line went where, you can pull up the picture on your comp and zoom in to see more detail. I did this on my GD-Rom for my Dreamcast so I ...

Take it from someone who has built a Dreamcast portable, all the information you need is on here. I built one with a little help from family guy through pm's but most of the information you need is right here on the forums. There really isn't much you need to do and for that stuff you do need to do ...

There was a guy on instructables that made a homemade Night vision where he used some IR LEDs but they had essentially three LED's in each. He used 8 of these I believe, bought a IR camera and hooked it up to a view finder from an old video camera. Since you took the IR filter off of your camera the...

There are several different variations of the Pico Psu. There are ones that will only take 12v. No more. But there are some with variable inputs. Such as 6v to 24v or something. So your 10.8v li-ion would be able to power that and it has the same power output, 125 watts, as the regular 12v Pico Psu....
