Re: Stumped again
What bacteria means by "TI card" is the Texas Instruments PTH08080 switching regulator. Or the PTH08000. There available as free samples from TI's website. I'm sure you've read people powering thier N64 portables with them. Seems to be a standard thing to use with N64 portables these days. You can s...

Re: Sam's Megadrive Portable
The project is now 100% done!! Yay!! :D Got the side panels added. Then wraped black tape around the edges rather than painting. Turned out quite nice overall. Some pictures: Side wall/panels added, hot glued into place: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n19/Sam_thornley/Megadrive%20Portable/DSC010...

Re: Any Genesis 3 owners willing to sell to the UK?
I don't have one to sell but i managed to get one from ebay earlier this year, for my Mega-Boy project. It was from the USA ebay.com. They are pretty much none existent here in the UK. Or on ebay.co.uk. Be prepared to pay quite abit for the shipping costs. If ebay is no good just try the BH trading ...

Re: Sam's Megadrive Portable
You can get stereo from the Genny 3. There's a simple guide on Segasonicfan's site. Any progress? I know, but its not as easy as just pulling stereo from the sega cpu. Another op-amp has to be made then the signals from the board have to be fed in to both amps. Though i think feeding the signals to...

Re: What causes...
If its the PSone screen your talking about:
Not enough amperage going to the screen with the volume up too loud, will shake the picture on heavy bass ect.

Re: Switching Regulators - Do they need filter inductors?
Thanks Mario, :D i totally forgot about that optional 100uf capacitor on the data sheet. So i set my PTH board to +5v with a 300ohm resistor, added my two 100uf caps wired it up to my genesis 3 board. All works perfectly with no audio interference or anything 8) . I just didn't realise how nice clea...

Re: Psone screen Backlight
Are you powering the screen off batteries? They may not be powerfull enough. Usually the stock CCFL backlight shuts off if the screen does'nt get enough amperage. I think it needs around 650-700ma to run unmodded. Also check if the backlight plug is properly attached.

Re: Sam's Megadrive Portable
Lookin' good! ...I'm totally digging that battery arrangement 8) Thanks, arranging the batteries took some thinking but i got there in the end. 8) Yes the Genesis3 is awesome! Only problem is no stereo :wtf: What do you plan on using for the sidewalls? No stereo sound doesn't really bother me in po...

Switching Regulators - Do they need filter inductors?
I try to avoid using linear regulators in battery powerd portables. So I built a MC34063 switcher on some perf board to supply +5v to a Genesis 3 board. Works fine but it ended up too big to fit into my case. :( So i picked up some sample PTH08080's set to supply my +5v. As they are nice ...
